Deezer Connect as debian package for Raspberry Pi streamers.

That would be great & make using Deezer so much more convenient… 

I used to be a happy Deezer premium subscriber, until I started using Volumio  running on a raspberry pi fitted with a digital audio converter HAT and playing music and listening to radio stations with my Hi fi.

Why am I now unhappy? I've discovered that if I had a Spotify or a Tidal subscription There's a plug in for Volumio that allows streaming through my new streaming device. There is no such plugin for Deezer though. According to Volumio they need your permission and some technical information from you to do this. They claim to have contacted you, but not been as yet given the relevant info.

Are you against this happening? Are you working to solve this? Do I have to take my subscription to one of your rivals to achieve what I want?

I know that I can physically connect my laptop, tablet, or cell phone to my Hi fi via a DAC, but that then restricts the use of that device for other things.

If you want to use Volumio with TIDAL, you need to pay additional fee to Volumio and buy one of their premium subscriptions…

Better idea would be to prepare a Debian package for e.g. DietPi - that would be cost free solution.

Deezer developers would have to contact DietpPi developers in order to put such package in dietpi-software installer. DietPi developers are very open and communicative so in my opinion everything depends now on Deezer guys and their willingness to develop such solution…

I am one of the maintainers of librespot, the open source Spotify player that underpins moOde, Volumio and too many other audio software distributions to name them all. 
 

For some months now I have a Deezer Family HiFi account and loving it. I am willing and able to create and maintain a Deezer Connect player for *nix-based streamers. For me, it would be a fun passion project. For the community, a ubiquitous streaming solution. For Deezer, hopefully more subscribers. 
 

I would very much like to get in touch with you to make this happen, in a way that is sanctioned, combats piracy, and benefits the music industry. Let me know what you think!

@roderickvd  Hi, would love to help if I can, I'm a backend developer for over 20 years and using Deezer sinds the beginning and to make it full circle looking into building my own Raspberry pi/dac.

Deezer has not responded to my requests and offers. 
 

In the meantime I have been cooking something up in my private repository. At this point nowhere near releasing anything in public. Do you know Rust?

Has Deezer responded as yet - they are really losing some serious ground to TIDAL and QOBUZ at this stage.  Which is a pity as the Deezer interface and functionality is second to none, it leaves the Android implementations of Tidal and Qobuz for dead!
