10k limits increase for personal playlists on Deezer

Now that Deezer has announced that the favorites playlist 2k limit cap is being raised to 10'000 tracks, I don't understand why user created playlists aren't included in this effort.

Why am I not allowed to add up to 10'000 tracks for into my own playlists? Deezer please get your censored together, as this makes no sense.

I'm grateful that it's now possible to add 10'000 tracks as favorites, but I want same approach for my own playlists. They are still capped at 2k tracks, as you can see in the following statement, ONLY favorites playlist has been raised from 2k to 10k tracks.

Hi,

Naive question. What’s the point of having some many tracks in a single playlist? As of now a 2000 tracks playlist will last ~240h or 10 days of continuous play. I do not feel like someone will start a playlist and listen to it 10 days in a row straight.

Am I missing something here?

I shuffle through my favourites daily, having over 6,000 tracks allows me to be “surprised” by tunes I have not heard in a while. I stream Deezer daily, often for hours at a time and as well when guests are over. The increased quantity of content is certainly appreciated when others hear the variety of tunes. Having had a business where I played music ten hours a day you would be surprised how quickly 2000 tracks becomes stale. Perhaps the shuffle algorithm could be improved which would indeed make a 2000 track playlist more enjoyable, but that does not address the fact that for me and other users 2000 tracks is restrictive.

I understand that. That’s why I have built myself a small website for that purpose (42stats.fr). It records deezer listening history in order to generate a daily playlist of your favorite tracks & albums.

This playlist is sorted so that it does not feel like you are listening to the same tracks over and over again. This works around the 2k limit, since it is changes every day.

Just about to hit the 2k limit on yet another playlist. It's really annoying. I like listening to audio dramas and some series have a huge amount of episodes, each with track numbers up in the 30's or even 40's. It would just be nice to have all episodes in one playlist, instead of having to create lists like "Audio Drama - Episodes 1 -20", "Audio Drama - Episodes 21 - 40", and so on.

Please make this an option...

If we could make playlists of playlists, or folders to playlist, this idea would be implemented in some way.

For what it’s worth, if you use Last.fm, I have a python script that takes all your favourite tracks and makes a new playlist with only songs that you haven’t heard in x weeks. It’s surprising how small the list is if you listen to music a lot!

It’s a bit of a messy script, but I could try to clean it up if you’re interested.

If we could make playlists of playlists, or folders to playlist, this idea would be implemented in some way.

I just append numbers to the end to “organize” it.

E.g.,

some-playlist-00
some-playlist-01
...

It’s not perfect, but it keeps them together. Feel free to start with 01 rather than 00, I’m a programmer. :D
