Scroll bars are not legible enough on Desktop

Currently with the new redesign, the scroll bars are the same color as the background with only a 1px border, which makes them extremely difficult to see, especially when scrolling a long playlist. (This might not effect macos) I think this would be better if the scroll wheel was at least the same shade as the border, so that I could actually see it.

Hi @Interstellar1, thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

We appreciate your input on the challenges you're facing with the new redesign, particularly regarding the scroll bars.

Your suggestion about adjusting the scroll wheel color is valuable, and we will forward it to our developers for consideration.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The vertical scroll bar is almost invisible. Are there no settings to change this, please?

Hello @Joseph Belinis thanks for your post.

This screenshot is from the Desktop app right? What version have you installed?

With dark mode, do you get any improvement?

On the browser, do you face the same issue?

Hi Leonidia. Thanks for getting back to me.

My screenshot was from Edge browser.
Dark mode has the same issue, just reversed i.e. the scroll bar is the same colour as its background.

Scrollbars are NOT fit for purpose!!!!! Have the devs not even looked at them?

Right, same here with Edge or the desktop app and Dark Mode enabled. I created a related idea on the German community now with some screenshots showing the almost invisible scrollbar both with Dark Mode enabled or disabled:

Scrollbalken in der Desktop-App beim Dark Mode besser sichtbar machen | Deezer Community

If you use the Dark Reader browser extension instead of Dark Mode in your Deezer account settings, it will help showing the scrollbar at least in the web player. See this example from my play queue with a long playlist, so the scrollbar is rather small:

But this will not help with the desktop app, as Dark Reader only works in the browser. See this example from my desktop app with the same view in the play queue:

With Dark Mode disabled, it is even worse:

As far as I remember, this problem started after the site redesign with the purple heart icon etc.

Thanks @bluezzbastardzz – really helpful input, especially with the screenshots showing just how invisible the scroll thumb/box gets in different modes.

This related thread also highlights the issue well: https://en.deezercommunity.com/features-feedback-44/scroll-bar-78329?postid=237769#post237769

To be honest, users shouldn’t have to rely on browser extensions like Dark Reader just to make basic UI elements like a scroll thumb/box visible. This feels like a design regression from the recent site refresh — hopefully the devs can tweak the contrast or add a persistent style for better visibility across platforms.

Appreciate you raising this in the German community too.

Right, that other thread also deals with the same problem, unfortunately it got derailed quickly. Also @Leonídia.Deezer contacting the developers about it back then is not a Community Manager anymore, I think, so that may have contributed to this long period of silence since the problem came up.

Windows 11 Desktop version here.. scroll bar handle definitely needs more contrast; if the designers are insisting their view is “better” then fire them and give us a contrast slider or color picker so the users (you know, the people who pay to use this) can choose how they want their apps to appear.
