When I go to my list of favorite albums, there is a scroll bar but there is no highlighted portion/ button/ whatever to click on in order to move the page up and down. I have many albums in my list and this lack of functionality in the scroll bar makes browsing through the albums difficult.

Hi @jkaw, could you please, share a video with the issue you're facing on your device.

Please include the following information:

-The update version of the Deezer app installed.

-The version of your device's operating system.

-Take a screenshot within the Deezer app: go to Settings, then to Data and Storage - Capture an image of the information displayed on this screen.

I look forward to receiving your information.

Hi.

I don’t know what the updated version of the Deezer app is. I use a web browser. My operating system is Linux Lite.

There is no Data and Storage option under my Account Settings. But I have taken a screenshot of my Deezer albums list. As you can see there is nothing to click on when I want to move the scroll bar up and down. This is true on more than just that page. The second screenshot is of my home page. Again, nothing in the scroll bar that I can click on.

Hi @jkaw !

On my PC I have Windows 10 Pro and scroll bar work fine .

Yes, I am on that page--obviously. If you’re not going to take this inquiry seriously, please stop wasting my time.

@jkaw

We in this community try to help each other as best we know and can.

We try to find the right solution or answer. Sometimes our answers are good, and sometimes they are not.
I set aside my time and free will, thinking that I would help to find the right solution or whatever .
If I had known that my reply would cause such a reaction, believe me I would not waste my time to reply .

Perhaps Deezer needs more people who speak English. Or perhaps a bunch of tech bros sit around talking about free will. OK.

But seriously, this is what I’m talking about: https://www.computerhope.com/jargon/s/scrollbo.htm

That apparently is the term. Scroll box. There is no scroll box on most deezer pages. You can click on the scroll bar and that makes the page move up and down, to an extent, but even that doesn’t work very well. If you have more than a few albums in your list, the page is very difficult to use because you have to scroll using the track ball or the up and down keys.

@jkaw

This is an open community and apart from Deezer's community managers any user can leave a reply here.

Commenting on someone's knowledge of English and where someone is sitting and waiting is really low.

I was trying to contact Deezer but of course you’re basically not allowed to. Typical tech company… farming out their work to people willing to do it for free. Wonderful.

Hey @jkaw the first person who replied was from Deezer and now I am replying too.
There’s no need to get into an argument with other users, in this case @Nina Nebo who is one of our superusers who happily helps other users. And yes, it is amazing to have the support and help of a superuser like Nina in the Deezer Community, and other users appreciate it too.
We don’t have a scroll box within the scroll bar I am afraid, and that is normal behaviour of the app (we don’t have a native client for Linux yet). I have checked other streaming music services pages and could not see any scroll box either to be fair.
Thanks

That is utter nonsense. Some pages at Deezer have scroll boxes. For example, there is a scroll box on the scroll bar of this page that I am on now. Most pages on the web everywhere have scroll boxes, including other streaming services. Indeed, there used to be a scroll box on most Deezer pages, including the list of albums that I talking about here. They were removed. I would have never kept my Deezer account if there was not something as basic as a scroll box. I also would not have kept my Deezer account if I had know you tried to get unpaid workers to answer your questions for you. Are not based in France? Don’t they have strong unions there to stop that kind of shit, unlike here in America?

Hi @jkaw

I can’t answer better than @Jaime.  (a long term employee of Deezer with vast experience) and @Nina Nebo who offers so much of her time on these forums to help other people.

As far as ‘unpaid workers’ are concerned, there are community members (like Nina and others) who like to help other people and who love the product they are using. This is the same with an American company such as Apple Music who have community participants on their help forums (across all their product range) and Spotify (another European company)  have superusers in a similar way as Deezer. Out of the other streamers Deezer (in my opinion) makes more of an effort to make a good community to visit on their English, German, Spanish and Portuguese forums. It is nothing to do with unionisation  - it is everything to do with people being courteous, polite and helpful, instead of argumentative and making the place a more negative environment.

Thank you  @Jaime. @Zayn Belmonte for supporting me !

You are a business and you cannot answer a customer’s simple inquiry about why a feature of every single web page that has ever existed (a scroll box) is lacking on your site. And you couch this incompetence in bullshit rhetoric about community, masking your overall goals of ripping off artists, the goal of all streaming services.

Hi @jkaw I am sorry to hear that you think like that. As it was said and well said, this is an open Community like thousand or millions communities that exist online from small brands to major players like Google, Apple, Microsoft and so on. There are millions users around the world that like to help and they come on the open topics and share their knowledge, their thoughts, their opinions. Like @Nina Nebo said “Sometimes our answers are good, and sometimes they are not”. So it is with the combination of efforts of several users sometimes that we get the right solution. So thank you @Nina Nebo @Zayn Belmonte and @Jaime. for the wise words.

So let’s focus on the topic, shall we? Otherwise, doesn’t make sense keep going with this thread.

Regarding the missing scroll box in the navigation bar, the navigation bar is there but isn’t not visible as the box as the same color as the navigation bar. But if you check the Desktop app for example you can find the box there as per screenshot below.

For the lack of contrast between the box and the scroll bar, I’ve just shared with our developers your feedback and hope to get some update soon. I would recommend in the meantime to use our Desktop app but unfortunately we don’t have a native client for Linux. So alternatively, until we get some feedback, you can try to switch the browser to dark mode and let us know if that shows you the box in the navigation bar (on Windows 10 with Mozilla Firefox browser works perfect)

I’ll keep in touch as soon as I get some info.

Wow, that escalated quickly…

@Leonídia.Deezer any update on changing the color of the scroll box to have more contrast? On my desktop browser it’s the exact same color as the rest of the scroll bar so I can’t see it at all. I know it’s there because with enough clicking around I can eventually find it. I never expected not seeing the scroll box would give me low-level anxiety but sometimes it feels like I’m lost on where I am in the page… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi @treehorntrombonegolf, I totally understand your concern.

As of now, I haven't received any updates on changing the color of the scroll box for better contrast.

However, I'll definitely follow up on this and ask for more information.

I'll be sure to keep you informed as soon as I have more information.
