Is Deezer app optimised for macOS on M1 (silicon) chip? Has relatively high CPU usage.

The desktop app is not optimized for M1. 😐

Are the performance issues something Deezer developers are aware of?

A community manager in the past did mention about ‘possible’ development of a M1 version, but it would be interesting to see if this is still a possibility or moved to the back burner (especially with the release shortly of the MacBook Pro & Air M2 versions). 

The Mac 'app' is a Chromium web browser instance with a bunch of supporting processes wrapped up in an Electron wrapper that looks like a Mac app. Despite appearances there's nothing lite about it. Don't expect it to get any better as long as they use Electron or a similar web wrapper.

So what I now understand is that the Deezer “app” on macOS is a browser wrapper, and not a native macOS app (well, the wrapper platform is likely native macOS app, but that’s about it).

So the performance issues are not likely to improve.

I have a couple of browser wrapper applications on my system, so I will create my own wrapper and see if they happen to be any more efficient than whatever Deezer “app” has used for that purpose.

If you only listen to music on your computer while it's connected to the internet, using your regular web browser is likely to be more efficient. 

Indeed. That’s a good idea. Will do that.

Although I’ve downloaded so much music via the App (I have relatively limited data plan where I am), I am loathed to download it all again. Might have to just do it … better now than later.

Actually … I now see that the browser version doesn’t allow for downloading music (makes sense, now that I think it through). So looks like I’ll be sticking with the App.

Any update regarding apple silicon port? It is not a big deal for developers but more than 1 year passed from releasing first m1 mac has been rolled out.
