Flow....

Hi everyone,

I’ve been pretty unhappy with Flow over the last few weeks.

Most of the time, it now plays songs I already know, have liked, or already have in my library. That also happens with Flow Discover, which is especially frustrating because I thought the whole point of Discover was to help me find new music.

Flow is actually one of the main reasons I still use Deezer. Spotify has quite a few features Deezer doesn’t, but Flow has always been one of Deezer’s biggest strengths for me. So if the recommendation algorithm stops working well, it becomes increasingly frustrating.

I also noticed that Flow seems to ignore the mood and genre settings. For example, if I select Dance or Disco, I still get completely unrelated music like Hard Rock.

Maybe I accidentally changed some setting on my side. If so, I’d really appreciate it if someone could tell me what I need to change to get Flow working like it used to.

Otherwise, has something changed with the Flow algorithm recently? Because for me, it has noticeably gotten worse over the last few weeks.

You can close this topic. Deezer clearly isn't interested in actually solving the problem.

Look, I would understand if you had simply said, "Yes, Flow isn't always accurate," or "Flow can't exclusively play the genre you've selected." Fine. It's a bug, and bugs happen. At least that would have been an honest and useful answer.

I even asked support whether I could provide log files or any other technical information to help investigate the issue. Instead, the response basically boiled down to, "If you don't like this song or that song, just dislike it to train the algorithm."

Which is clearly NOT what I was asking about in the first place.

I'm reporting a technical issue with Flow ignoring selected genres and Flow Discover repeatedly playing songs I already know or have in my library. This isn't about disliking individual tracks. It's about features that no longer work as they're supposed to.

Seriously, is that how you handle customers who are actively trying to help you identify a problem?

If you're going to treat your customers like children instead of taking their feedback seriously, I'll simply go back to Spotify.

Deezer was a great app for years, and Flow was one of the main reasons I stayed. It's genuinely a shame to see what you've done to it.

Anyway, you can close the topic. I'm done wasting my time trying to help fix something you apparently don't care about.

Have you only tested this on Android, or do you experience the same issue on Windows, macOS, or iOS as well?

When I use Flow on macOS or iOS, the correct music is assigned to the correct genre.

I love Flow, even after using Deezer for many, many years, it remains my favorite feature.

I will start Flow at home through my Sonos system and never need to touch it, and will also listen with my earbuds and phone while washing the car or doing yard work. It’s so good that I rarely even use playlists anymore.
