Downloads sorting change

So normally when I’m out and about I use the Deezer app (on Android), and just this morning I discovered a change to the Downloads section.

Up until yesterday my Downloads section was sorted A-Z by Artist, then Album. As of today that has been changed, and the list is no longer sorted at all. I reached out to Deezer support on this issue and this is what they responded to me with.

“ Deezer is always looking for ways to make your music experience better, faster and more seamless.
To achieve this, with the launch of the most recent version for Android 8.0.27, we have made a technical change by removing the A-Z sorting feature.
This decision was made to prioritize speed and improve how quickly your Playlists and Favourite tracks load. We understand this may feel like a change to how you organize your music, but our focus is on delivering a faster, more intuitive experience so you can spend more time enjoying your favourite tunes.”

Pardon my language, but this is a crock of sh*t. I have several hundred albums downloaded on my phone to make listening easier on the go, and now it will be impossible for me to find what I’m looking for. Nothing about this is intuitive or faster, and loading my Downloads has never been a problem.

IMO this change needs to be reverted immediately, and whoever thought this was a good idea should be fired.

Hi @everyone! Great news – the option to sort Downloads is making a comeback! 🎉

I don’t have a launch date yet, but it’s on the way.

On a positive note, I’m really happy that finally Deezer added the functionality available on Spotify, where your selected favourite tracks of an artist are available when you open the artist page ie. Favourite/Artist/‘In your favourites’. eg.

This is a much welcomed improvement from my perspective.

@DavidCoulston agree, I love this new feature.

Deezer is piss*** me off more and more: they remove this feature while we have more thab 50 playlists (they do not manage correctly downloads, they don't have an ⏰️).

The more time goes, less features we have… now only made for 💸

I have asked our devs and the option that you all mentioned above for downloaded content it has been removed after the revamp and will not be reintroduced for the time being.

As someone who has used the app for years and always needs downloaded music die to patchy coverage, this is a game changer for me. It renders the app virtually unusable for me for the majority of time when I use it.

I'd love to understand the logic.

I've been with Deezer for many years now. This change means I will be cancelling my account. It simply means that I can't select anything from my music collection: I listen mostly offline and it's just not feasible to rifle through 150 albums randomly splurged onto a page every time I want to select. Such a daft decision.

@Leonídia.Deezer Thank you for taking another look. I have also been a loyal Deezer subscriber for many years, and this feature change has me baffled and considering looking for a music solution elsewhere. Being able to quickly find what I want to listen to when cell service is spotty and/or I need to conserve battery life (both of which are true when I’m cycling in remote areas for extended periods of time), is important to me. That’s my happy place, and essentially the reason I pay for the service.

My downloads used to be sorted by recently downloaded, made it really convenient to get to my latest downloads easily, losing sorting and search on downloads pretty much made the downloaded music section useless, if it wasn’t for deezer auto adding downloaded albums to the favorite albums list (which can still be sorted by recently added and doesn’t help for old favorites you’ve downloaded recentlkly) I might’ve joined the unsub squad, well that and the fact that I renew anually
