Deezer is Too Expensive

I completely agree and am going to cancel. No customer support from agents, just the community, £17.99 a month which is more expensive than other premium music platforms. It’s just too much Deezer, greedy and I’m going to cancel. You don’t actually have many of the albums/songs I search for and you may boast 56 million tracks but half of them are dodgy copies of people who can’t sing doing karaoke type albums. Really poor.

Lol a one time payment eh? How exactly do you think the artists would get paid under this system? Also don't they have like 90m tracks?

I want to chime in here about the family plan cost. I’ve had the premium account for a number of years, and I’ve been loving Deezer. I’ve converted quite a few people from Spotify and Apple and I truly believe in the app.

In the past month, my kids asked me for a premium account as well. They’ve grown enough and want to listen to music without ads, limited skips. etc. My jaw DROPPED when I saw the price difference between the Deezer family plan and the family plans of the competition. It’s not even 1 or 2 dollars difference per month. It’s almost double!

I went back and forth about this, and yesterday just got the family plan from Spotify. Am I happy about it? Not entirely. I’d much rather keep my Deezer premium and have my kids and husband join too, but a music subscription is a one of the first things to go in this economy.  

Deezer, I love you, but read the room. The family plan is way too expensive. 

Price differences also depend on the country you live in, e.g. in some countries you can subscribe to an annual Premium plan which is competitive to other streaming sites, also for families, as far as I know. But this may not be available for your location, it might also differ in including HiFi streaming in the Premium tier or not, being a new user or old, subscribing from the Apple store or directly on the Deezer site etc.

Also note that this thread started three years ago, and there have been a lot of changes recently in the pricing not only on Deezer. A more current comparison is available e.g. in this thread:

@Loreley Herself i agree the deezer family plan isn’t cheap at $17.99, at least in the US where I am.

comparatively, though, for me anyway, apple is $14.99/mo, and amazon music just went up to $15.99/mo (on top of the $139/yr i pay for prime).

qobuz, a more direct competitor in terms of audio quality and company size, is also $17.99/mo.

YouTube Music Premium is $17.99/mo.

spotify is $15.99/mo.

so deezer for $2 more a month, which includes higher quality audio than spotify and many other features i prefer, makes it worth it to me.

obviously, everyone has their own needs and preferences, but in the US, anyway, the situation isn’t quite as lopsided as you have described.

I’m in Israel, and it’s $17.99/mo for a family premium in Deezer, vs. $8.95 (Spotify) or $8.40 (Apple Music). On Apple you only get 5 users rather than 6, but still. 

Yes, it’s overpriced.

Single user in Czechia 10.99€ (Deezer) vs 5.99€ (Spotify). Almost double. For crappy app. And poor Alexa integration.

I paid the same price as Germany or France users, but with worse quality. No radio stations, no local made playlists, no popular podcasts. No one can me explain why.

I’ve been forced to cancel my Deezer, its just too expensive man. More than double the price of Spotify. Can you believe Spotify is US. $5.99 in my country while Deezer is a whole US $11.99. 

Spotify Family with 6 accounts is $9.99 which is still more cheaper than a single Deezer sub. I can get HBO Max and Spotify for cheaper than Deezer in my country. I simply cannot do it anymore.

I’m wondering where you did get this information. The big green giant is $ 10,99 in the US. And Family is $ 16,99.

The $ 5,99 is the student plan, which you can compare with the Deezer Student.

Although a bit more expensive, Deezer offers HiFi, the green one doesn’t.

Yeah, I love the app but the prices are ridiculous, they don't even have student discounts or anything...it pains me but I'm switching to Spotify.

I can't even use Deezer free in my country :(
