error: failed to play

Forum|alt.badge.img

I’m getting this message on my Samsung S23+ (Android 13), but i’ve also had problems with it on my Samsung S21 (Android 13) so it’s not one device specific. Most of the time i get it when using Android auto and skipping songs: like 3-4 songs in a row. But i’ve managed to reproduce it when not using Android auto.

I’ve seen people recommend increasing smart cache, but that should not be the problem since i have 23GB and used only 15GB.

When i click on retry it normally continues with song.

EDIT: I have 4g connection with great signal all the time, so connection should not be the problem.

For me it usually happens when my network connection is lost for a split second .

What happens if you clear cache within the app ? (It will delete all your downloaded content )

Navigate to settings on the top right corner > Data and storage > Clear all

As I said, after clicking on “Retry” everything works fine. And clearing cache shouldn’t be “solution” because this bug happens few times a day.

Hi @skyline91 !

Did you try update the app and your phone software !?

First, if you're not on the latest version of the Deezer app, update it. You can see the latest update for your phone here. It is also worth updating your phone's operating system.

or uninstall and reinstall the Deezer app ?

  1. Delete the Deezer app from your device
  2. Reinstall the app again (you may have to restart your device again afterwards)

Tip: For a full list of steps, see our Reinstall Deezer article

I have the latest version of deezer (auto updated) and latest version of android OS. As i said, it occured on my previous phone (S21) and is occuring now on S23+ (so uninstalling the app is not the solution).

I´ve read issues with Deezer and Samsung S23 together with Android 13. But you’ve tested this also on a Windows pc and a Mac with the same problems.

I don’t have a pc, but I wasn’t able to reproduce it on a Chromebook on a browser, not on my MacBook with the app or my iOS and Android phone.

So couldn’t this be something else?

If you skip song fast enough it happens. It’s not a big deal on my PCs, but it’s annoying when i’m driving and i skip 5-6 songs and then error happens. So i have to use the phone (while driving) and click on “Retry” to continue playing.

On PCs i had to skip like 20 songs to reproduce it.

I will try it tomorrow in my car and I’ll let you know.

Did you try it? I spoke with my friend and he also said that he gets this error sometimes.
