Troubles with Tune My Music (fav transfer) and favorites

Hello!

I’ve been moving my stuff over from Spotify to Deezer using Tune My Music integration in your player, noticed something that may pretty much spoil this feature for newcomers. And mark my words you will have quite a lot soon with Spotify’s new redesign :D

There are three issues I have experienced, both seem to be related to possible mismatches in your album database.

  1. Not all favorite albums (as in albums transferred over from Spotify library) that ended up in my library had a “heart” icon. So like, they were in my albums library but they were not “favorited”. If I press the heart sign - it remains there, no changes, if I remove the heart - album disappear from the library. So the issue is that around a third of the albums transferred over were somehow added to my library without being “favorited”, which is kinda strange and confusing :D
  2. Now a more impactful issue - some of the albums that got transferred over do not “open” when you click on them, they just load for eternity. It seems to affect random albums disregarding whether they had were “favorited” or not by the previous bug.
  3. Third one is related to favorite tracks. Now tracks themselves have transferred over just fine, they all have “hearts” next to them, but some of the tracks do *not* have likes in album when you follow the album link from the link. So for example say I have 5 tracks from album “The Alternative” by IAMX in favorites, but when I follow the link to that album or open it from the artist page, the album has no favorited songs inside, not a single one. The issue seems to be affecting specific albums than specific tracks - one album might have all the favs in place, while the other will have none. Tried re-transferring stuff several times, one of them by transferring songs as a regular playlist and then faving the songs in bulk.

It seems like the transfer feature calls for albums with invalid IDs or something, which technically exist in your system but are not linked to the artist and duplicate the existing entries. Maybe albums with different encoding? Anyway, I suspect that’s more of the issue for Tune My Music rather than Deezer but you guys have some kind of collab in place so you might want to speak to them. Or remove the transfer tool cus it may cause more trouble than good :)

Anyway, I’m liking your service so far and hoping to stick with you, barring a few bugs here and there I enjoy Deezer more than YTM and AM, as a Spotify refugee

Here’s an example of case 3.

Favorite tracks playlist:

And the Lightbulb Sun album page:

While this album seems fine:

Don’t have the screenshots of case 1 and 2 though because I’ve already removed every single transferred album manually (had to click through every single one of 420 albums) and been slowly adding them from artists page one by one. Those added manually are showing up just fine.

For illustrative purposes I’ve removed a heart from one of the albums, about a third of them were like this:

And just to confirm - it was the same on all of the devices and apps I’ve tried - Win 10 with web on Firefox and desktop app, and latest iOS app

You can try www.Musconv.com to transfer your playlists.

I am sorry about this @PotatoOverlord, this can happen when transferring a lot of music,

could you “heart” all the songs that were missed?

@Yula Hey, spent some time troubleshooting it but no luck.

Summarizing the issue: when I import the tracks to Deezer and then “heart” them, the “hearts” for those tracks don’t appear on the tracks’ album page.

Example: imported a playlist with “None Shall Pass” track by Aesop Rock. I heart this track. The track appears in the Liked Tracks playlist. Then I open the album with this track, and the same track there has no “heart”. If I press the heart again on the album page, I end up with two identical hearted tracks in my Liked Songs.

So while the tracks are identical, their heart value is not shared. The issue affects only specific albums, some tracks are completely fine.

It bothers me because when I listen to specific albums I want to see what tracks I liked. I might think “man, this track is bangin’, I should like it” and add it to my liked tracks, and end up with two versions of this track.

I think this might be the issue on Deezers’ side, not the issue with your transfer tool. I tried both direct track transfer from Spotify to Deezer first, then tried exporting it to csv and importing to Deezer. Both give the same results. I would be glad to help your devs with troubleshooting it, just direct me to the correct place please :)

I made a gif with the example, the quality is horrible due to conversion but you should get the idea. https://i.imgur.com/FOWeWx0.mp4

There I imported a single problematic track to a separate playlist and hearted it, but the heart won’t appear in the album and gets duplicated if I like it there.

Alright I think I’ve found a workaround for this but it’s janky as all hells, and should be fixed anyway :)

If I perform the same steps with the same track as in the video but use the iOS app instead of web/desktop app, the hearts are placed properly. I had to go and manually heart ~750 tracks but at the end all of them reached my Favorites playlist and albums.

But this is a manual approach and automatic import of favorites is still broken.

I suspect that there are differences in how API/desktop/web apps interact with your database compared to mobile apps. Hearts work properly when handled through mobile applications but having difficulties in all other cases.

Update: yeah scratch this. About 200 tracks added to favs using this method just disappeared from Favorite Tracks after 20 minutes and lost the hearts. Getting super frustrated here.
