Auth stop workin for my app

OAuthException Application error code 50

Best answer by José.Deezer

Hello, this was the decision of the team responsible for management of the API.

Some users are in breach of the terms and conditions when they sign the contract to use our API, https://developers.deezer.com/termsofuse.

In other cases, Deezer don’t have visibility on the usage of our API.

So, based on the findings, some cases we have manage to reinstate the APP ID, but other cases, we left the APP ID deactivated.

Again, if we have miss judge any case, as said above, we would require evidences how the API is being used, sharing website links or applications, ...

Apologies for the less positive news.

Jason here. I can report the same issue with my app. The login flow does successfully give me a token, but I cannot access the /me/playlists endpoint or any other /me endpoint that requires auth. This issue started over the weekend. I’ve been using the API for ~1 year without issue for about 100 authenticated users. None of my code changed, the error appeared out of the blue.

`{ type: 'OAuthException', message: 'Application error', code: 50 }`

Does this information somehow reach the developers?

Thanks @dsander for sharing your case. Already DM you and now let's wait for feedback from our developers.

If new cases arise on this thread, please DM me with the app_ID of your application and name, to make the process more efficient.

For context, this could be connected with a batch of unused app_ids we have recently disabled, as we were not getting any calls from those IDs. So we are investigating our cases.

Again, many thanks for your understanding and hope to have things sorted soon.

I was definitely using my app ID on the daily (100+ active users on my app). I can still get an auth token, but all the /me endpoints are failing with this error.

The guys at Deezer are definitely not quick fix experts ))).

Hello Andrey, got a final reply from our team regarding our App ID.

So for now, the decision is to leave the app ID deactivated as, investigating the usage of the API, we didn't find any website, no available service.

Unless there is some evidences (links), explanation how it is being used, that is our final decision.

Sorry for the news.

At your disposal, have a great day.

Hello @Andrey.Galinovskiy , first let me address that I feel very disappointing that a personal message was shared in public. Not that contains any personal information, it just betrays the trust we put in each other.

That said, one of my colleagues, spotted that on your own Github page  "this project is abandoned", that is one more reason to keep the API ID disabled.

Deezer normally runs checks on the usage made out of our API, so if, for example, we identify misusage of our API, we will deactivate that API ID.

What we asked everybody, which had the API ID disabled, was to explain to us which purpose you are doing with our API, again, as an example if we detect, that you are monetizing the service, that is a breach of our Terms and Condition, as we can immediately disable your API ID.

After reviewing your reply,“ I use it for my personal reason, to create personal playlist”, again even that we considered not respectful to share a DM, we have reactivated your API ID.

Hello,

Thank you for reactivating my API ID. I sincerely apologize if sharing the DM came across as disrespectful. My intention was never to share personal information—it was meant to help others—but I understand your concern and I apologize for any misunderstanding.

As I mentioned before, I use the API strictly for personal purposes, with no monetization involved—just automation to update my playlists.

I truly appreciate your understanding and the reactivation of my API.

Thank you again.

Best regards,
Andrey
