Last.fm scrobbling for deezer family

Good to know! Unfortunately not very user friendly and I don’t really want to disconnect from family just to set this up.

Since it’s already technically possible, it shouldn’t be a huge problem to actually implement it for already connected accounts and could be a quick task for the developers.

This just makes me expect this feature even sooner 😅

As of today, is it possible to connect a secondary family account (so with its own separate login) to last.fm or is it still impossible ?

(I’m currently using a secondary family account but with the same login as the admin account, and it’s not possible to link it to last.fm, so I would like to know if switching to a separate login would be worth it and resolve the issue or not)

As  ​@Barendrecht described a year ago, they could connect to their Last.fm account with a free Deezer account first, then join the family with this independent account with its own login. I haven’t tested this myself, but it sounds as if scrobbling would still work afterwards, even if the Sharing Preferences page is not available in their account.

Using the login credentials of the family account owner would also result in their listened Deezer songs appearing on your Last.fm account which you probably want to avoid anyhow.

But if I already have an account linked to the family with all my playlists and stuff, is it possible to turn it to a free account, enable the scrobbling, and join the family back with my own login ? Or if I want the free account do I have to create a new one from scratch ?

You will need a new invitation to your Free account by the Family admin for joining again, but don’t forget to connect to Last.fm before that. You can also contact the support directly either with a chat service or form to help you with the conversion, they might not be available during the holidays though:

Your account data like saved favorites, albums etc. should not be hurt by turning it into a Free account.

My account is already independent and under a family plan. Following the instructions in the support article linked by bluezzbastardzz, I am unable to convert my account to an independent one in order to make the switch, and the admin sees my account labelled as Independent. Further, if i disconnect from the family plan, I don’t live in one of the countries ( listed here - https://support.deezer.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115003749449-List-Of-Countries-Deezer-Is-Available-In ) where Deezer Free is available, meaning I can’t do anything without logging into a paid account even if I do disconnect from the family plan.

Is there another way to enable last.fm scrobbling, or a new development in child accounts being able to enable it?

I don’t know how accounts from former Family members look now after Deezer has removed the Free offer in most countries. But I guess you can still leave a Family and keep your saved favorites, playlists etc. in that “homeless” independent account. One thing probably is still true: you cannot see the full Sharing Preferences in the web player as a Family or Duo member, so you have to leave the Family first and then connect to Last.fm there. I guess the support could help with transferring your account from Family member to independent and not losing your saved data doing this.

Other ways to scrobble from Deezer than with their internal option are available with external scrobbling apps like the Web Scrobbler browser extension or Pano Scrobbler for Android which also has a new Windows and Linux desktop version now. If you are on Discord and use the Deezer and Discord desktop apps, you could also try Music Presence which has an internal scrobbling option in their latest beta version 2.3.5 for registered beta users.
