I am sorry to hear that the process wasn’t as expected @bdsl
In order to get better recommendations we ask you to add at least 3 favourite artists. Then you can start your listening experience with Deezer.
You can always remove those 3 artists from favourites after.
I understand that would be better for you or other users to be able to skip this initial process. I’ll pass your feedback to the appropriate team.
Apologies for the inconvenience and I hope you are enjoying Deezer now and our improved catalog with more than 90 Million songs.

Its hard to enjoy a song when you get stopped from accessing the music to begin with..... 😕

Insanity. I am not adding 15! artists just to remove them later. What design is that? What about to sign up for a few months but not thanks.

It is even „better“ - I just want to resign my account, because I will not feed these trolls.

Without selecting what ever, it is not possible to enter the account settings for resign.

Hey @hpk

What’s the reason you don’t fancy this artist selection? 👀

It helps the app to know your music taste better 😎

My intention is not to have an app, which made some proposals for me - I just want to listen what I have currently in my mind to listen to.
It is like commercials- that interruptions in films - I do not like that and I pay for that to get rid of that.

I pay for Deezer - so I will not have that and would just switch that off if I would have a chance - it will just disturbs my - and I have no time for that.

Currently and additionally that “app behavior” protects to resign my contract (see my last comment before this one)  - so that is not a way I would play with my customers. I would try my best to please them.

Here at Deezer all smells I am trapped and fooled.

This desperately needs a skip button. Get your algo to learn from what people play, not by forcing them to choose. What if they don’t want to think about it right then, or aren’t in a music listening mood right then? Maybe they’re in a hurry. The UX is too single-minded here.

I just signed up and I couldn’t even log out without doing this. couldn’t access any account page or anything. if I didn’t know how to use devtools to delete all of it I wouldn’t have been able to cancel my trial. completely unacceptable

was ready to switch from spotify too but not after these hostile anti-cancellation tactics

I’m struggling to get past this page without choosing, and now it’s playing “music” that I can’t stop!

For anyone with a bit of html/css knowledge and running Deezer in browser, set the class .chakra-modal__content-container and .chakra-modal__overlay to display:none

Or remove the elements entirely.

This won't help regular people and won't help with the mobile app, so I guess after the free month, I'm gone, too.

Dear @Jaime.Deezer, @Leonídia.Deezer, @Alfredo.Deezer,

I am sure that as community managers you spend a lot of time trying to convince users of the value of selecting favorite artists.

I am also sure the fact that users keep pushing back on this makes you wonder if that time could not be spent in a better way.

I am here to tell you that indeed there is a better way… ADD A 'SKIP THIS' BUTTON.

Wait no longer, do it now, feel good.

You're welcome

For me this is stuck in a loop , I’ve chosen 15, then it asks for 15 more, then 30.  For whoever is reading this via google search, don’t sign up for Deezer, the service is horrible.  Also as you can see from this thread their community managers are useless.  They have said they are passing the feedback along for 2 years and nothing has happened.  If anything it has gotten worse.

Now it asks for selecting 10 artists. Can you NOT do that???

Hey everyone,

I was strugling too with this non sense selection and trying to escape it to simply listen a song (what an orignal way to use a music app). I was on the train and the network was not great and luckely i have found how to avoid this step : you need a internet cut while you are on the selection, then the app says it is not working and i landed on the deezer home page. I guess its because its quite a dynamic UX so it doesnt manage lost connection at this step.

If it can help some people i'll be happy :)

To Deezer, this is one the worst features i have ever seen on an app and if i did not find a skip my subscription will be already canceled. Just add a basic skip button, if you can make super mega incredible performent algorithm you can do that too no ?

As i have read earlier on this forum some people from your company talk about "music consumption" and i truely believe this a wrong concept because music exist to be listen not to be consumpt, just think about it please and it may allows you to understand much more people who use you app.

Bye

I completely understand where you’re coming from. If you already know exactly which song you want to play, it’s frustrating when the app gets in the way and you can’t just start listening straight away. That really shouldn’t feel like a struggle.

It may not make the experience any less annoying, but most other music‑streaming services, like Spotify and YouTube Music, also ask you to make a selection the first time you use certain features. So Deezer isn’t the only one doing this, although that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be improved.
