For playing a song at full length and not only a 30s excerpt, you need a Premium account, because free users cannot do this on mobile devices and - depending on the country you live in - sometimes not even on a desktop computer. For example U.S. users without Premium never could play full length tracks on-demand, as far as I know, but many other countries could like e.g. Germany. This has also been changed by Deezer recently, I think.

Artist photos cannot be modified by users. The images are provided either by the artists or by the record labels.
I don't understand the second question. Why shouldn't you be able to play the songs from the beginning to the end?
