Hi,

I've just subscribed to Deezer family

I would like that each profile will login directly to his profile and not be able to switch to other profile

Is it possible ?

Thanks
@Zvf I don't think it's possible. Your subscription is one account and the profiles are part on the one account. Therefore each device will use the same login and password. There is no way to restrict switching profiles.
How avoid in a Family plan a new user switch to the principal account and change the password or add new accounts without permission from the principal ?????
Hi @Alberto K that is not possible, but you need to know the current password in order to change it and insert a new one. So you if you do not want this to happen make the login on the member's phone this way they will not know the current password and cannot change it.

We are aware of this issue and are working on a better implementation.
Ok with the password change but its not the only issue..are you planning secure the primary account, by example when an user subscribe tho family plan give the option of créate a secondary password for the new members and when somebody enter with the mail account and secondary password could make all with music for each profile but not touch the profiles, add new members, pay methods, cancel the subscription, etc and all that be exclisive for the primary account..
Hi Alberto, we will pass this feedback on to our devs, but feel free to share your ideas with us on the Got an Idea Forum here ;)

My kids are able to freely switch between profiles without using the current password. Are there any way what so ever to restrict the kids to their own profiles?

Hi @fvdb

I’ve replied to you on your other post :)

Did you ever get an answer to this?  I don’t understand how content settings are the least bit helpful when. Kids can go in and switch to my account and turn them off...

Hello @Thomas William Lewis III, we’re working on fixing this. As you may have noticed, it’s now possible to have independent accounts of a Family subscription, and we would like to extend this solution to kid profiles. We’ll keep you posted on the Community.

I actually set up independent accounts for my kids thinking that this would allow a fix to the parental controls (based on this Deezer announcement - https://www.deezer-blog.com/press/more-freedom-for-the-family-with-individual-logins/) but it actually provided no ability to filter those at all.  I’m not sure what the solution from here can be.

Can you give more details on what a true child account does (meant for 12 and under).  I have 15 and 16 year old kids and if the controls on that kid account allow them to listen to anything that isn’t explicit, that may work.  But is there a way to keep those accounts locked from explicit content or can they also still go in to the main profile and switch it?

Hello @Thomas William Lewis III indeed, a kid profile is suitable for children under 12, it’s too limited for teens regarding the available catalogue content. In any independent account, you can activate the filter so that no explicit content is recommended (in App settings on mobile), however it would be easy at the moment for your kids to deactivate it. But bear with us, our teams are working on a feature that would enable just what you need and that should be available very soon.

Is there any update on this please?

I see there are now independent accounts, but these are only for 16+, whereas my children are all 10 or under, so I need to use a Kids Profile for each.

This works when connecting via a Google Home, but when using the Deezer app, they can easily switch to the Admin account.

So they need their own login, or the app needs a way of selecting the Kids profile & not allow the switching,

Hi @Martin Holmes you are right and we raised this to our developers already.
For the time being, starting next week you'll be able to control the explicit content of the members on your plan
From the Family picker, you click on the "three dots" right next to the name of the person you wish to control, and you click on "Hide explicit content".
I invite you to suggest this on the ideas forum so other users can vote for your idea and we can push for this feature to be implemented in the short term: https://en.deezercommunity.com/ideas

Hi Jamie,

Thank you for your reply, however I've already ticked the 'Hide Explicit Content' box on the kids profiles - that wasn't my question.

As things stand the kids profiles are in effect useless, as if they're logged into the website or via the app, they can very easily switch to the main Admin account & cause all kinds of trouble.

So unless they ONLY ask for music via their Google Home, & never want to do anything like create Playlists, then they're redundant.

I chose Deezer after Google Play Music was retired & YouTube Music doesn't allow accounts under 13, so it's a real shame this massively important security feature hasn't been thoroughly thought through.

Please help all of us with small children to make this change in the app.

Thanks,

Martin

@Martin Holmes  I completely understand and this is something we are asking our developers to review for next year given feedback like yours in the community.
Please create the idea as I mentioned and we will keep passing feedback in order to see that feature in the short term (hopefully) for Family users.
Thanks:relaxed:

I have just upgraded my deezer subscription as my 11 yr old had added lots of explicit rap songs to his playlist. We decided to give him his own profile on the family account with the option to remove explicit language ticked...problem solved! NO. He just came in to me and quite innocently said,  “Don’t worry Mum, I haven’t lost all my songs, I just switch to Dad’s profile and they are all still there”

Is there no way to stop the profile switching else iIm paying for an upgraded safe kid friendly version...which is no different to the usual version.

Hi @poppycoral we don’t have an option at the moment to prevent other profiles to switch to the master account but we have already passed the feedback to our developers.
Please feel free to leave your suggestions in our ideation forum where other users can see your feature request and for it. The most voted ideas are likely to be developed for future updates: https://en.deezercommunity.com/ideas
Thanks, and apologies for the inconvenience

I see, two years and the password box before switching an account isn’t here. This is mainly a security issue and you can’t solve it for over two years?

So, the application isn’t usable for parents and families.

Hi @Lukáš Benda as I mentioned to other user, you are right we don’t have a password box. However what we have now is a way to convert a Deezer profile into and independent account as you can see in the following link: https://support.deezer.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360007641517

This thread is 4 years old and I cannot see this issue has been resolved. I subscribed to a family account today and can immediately see it is not a Family account but a multiple profile account. Without safeguards to switch to the admin account it is useless. I think I will be unsubscribing well before my “free” 3 months finishes. Ridiculous set-up. Switching profiles should require a pass-code separate from the password like every other media service out there.  Shame I was looking forward to it.

@Fraser_Andrew

Hi… no need to be upset. 😉

You can invite any existing Deezer free account to join your family account instead of using profiles. The invited account uses its own account data to log in.

Yes, but a family account should have parental controls only profiles have those, I would have no control over invited accounts.

@Fraser_Andrew

I agree with you that there‘s just the control option to invite or to kick out other accounts.
Kids mode on profiles is more a kind of content filter for recommendations. It’s not a control option to allow or to forbid content. Imo that’s also not what Deezer wants to have profiles for.

Indeed. I guess Deezer should examine whether a "family subscription" is appropriate or misleading marketing. I've cancelled my subscription now in favour of iTunes. Hopefully this will filter down and a proper family profile will become available.... There is a market for it.

Thanks for sharing.
