No thanks.
Best to do what you do so well!
Besides, requires greater bandwidth, more data and probably more dollars for a subscription.
I love Deezer as it is. Please dont tinker.
Thanks Billion, I agree. Deezer for me is to listen to music, not watch a video. I have my own YouTube Channel, and on there I create playlists and all, and share with others etc.
I listen to Deezer on my smartphone as I drive the car everywhere, as I lie in bed, and on my PC laptop as I work at the desk, and around the house. I don’t need videos for anything of this activity.
And yeah, it wud be a big cost for Deezer like you said in bandwidth and hundreds of other costs.
Plus I like things simple. Not too busy and complicated.
Cheers,,
No. Deezer has a long list of user-requested features that's been 'under review' for years including gapless playback, a Linux version of the app, elimination of the 2000 track limit, a family hifi plan and so on. Please focus on prioritizing and delivering these and other highly-requested items before adding to the pile and further diluting your developer's limited bandwidth.
There are other features and improvements more urgent than videos. Deezer should really focus on podcasts, it needs big improvements.
Hey @Rick P. @Gabriel Felippe Mateus
Totally agree with you, but don't worry. This is part of the user-research we're doing and the community's opinion is always special, detailed, real.
On top of that, Videos on Deezer would be set up and investigated by a dedicated team - so we won't lose resources for all those things you mentioned @Rick P. which are all coming this year! (with the exception of the HiFi Family, we're not certain on this one yet)
Great feedback @oldrecord
Absolutely would not want video. I use Deezer either in the background or on the go, and in neither case am I going to watch videos. Besides, there’s YT for that if I really need it.
That’s not to say I wouldn’t want *some* better visual options:
- Visuallizers (oh how I miss you, winamp!)
- Maybe some cycling stills of the artist if they have them, for times when it is playing on my Xbox or Fire TV in the background.
I’d love some kind of artist profile page, particularly for independents, which could include links maybe, but video to me would add nothing that youtube doesn’t already offer.
Well I think Deezer got their feedback, 60%+ of the people here use YouTube for Videos, which does not bring any points to Deezer. (There are even some people that use YouTube due to lack of alternative, but prefer not to)
If they can keep you up more in the App, that’s better for them. If people start sharing videos from Deezer, they will receive more users, more ads for the free users → more money income for Deezer.
Users who use other apps, just because they have videos like Apple Music or Tidal, have better chance of switching to Deezer...
In all cases, adding videos is a win-win, even though some people are scared of changes(and don’t like them), I think in the long term it will be much better.
I also think 4K video streaming is importaint nowadays, Tidal uses very high compression which sucks to be honest. The 4K TV’s and monitors are becoming more and more popular. Currently only YouTube offers proper video quality.
Adding Deezer apps in more places like the PlayStation5, most smart TV’s and other devices with option to play videos will bring many users, because Spotify does not offer that and their App is everywhere. Trust me, people prefer to watch video on their smart TV or console, instead of see the album cover staying there statically.
@vyrgozunqk That's an interesting perspective. There are times I might like to have an endless "My Flow" in video fornat for sure, but those are few and far between, and I would hate ads if I was paying for the service.
I know if I was sitting in Deezer' s boardroom my question would be " can we do this for free?" followed by "would people be willing to pay extra for it? (because you can't do it for free)" I suspect the answer is no, which is when I would say if you really need to, partner with Vimeo or someone for a cut in revenues to refer content there, and let them handle it Hosting video is expensive and rife with problems managing content, licensing, etc. and I would prefer they focus on music, podcasts and maybe an occasional partner video/audio simulcast if needed, and leave it at that.
Love the discussion here @santama @vyrgozunqk
Very very interesting points that our teams will appreciate a lot!
There's definitely a dilemma here, I'd say that you only want videos if we get our most important things fixed and improved - and the videos have to be relevant to the artists and not intrusive. Great feedback so far, like to see both sides of the coin.
Thank you for your contribution!
If it's gonna be something like Spotify canvas, then YES YES AND YES, I'd love it, but not a full video, this is deezer and not youtube
Fair point @Dimasfos
I actually would love to have videos in Deezer.
I would love to watch and hear the musicvideos of my favorite artists.
This would be a very exciting feature, which the competition (except for YouTube Music) - doesn't offer.
I think Deezer should further investigate this idea, and seriously consider implementing it.

Both Tidal and Apple Music offer Music video clips. The problem I have with it is that they are somehow limited. For example in YouTube, you can find usually all band’s videos, while in Apple Music you see just 5-6, which sucks, then again you need to go to YouTube, watch like 4 commercials or pay another subscription...
At this point, it’s more relevant to pay for YouTube Premium where you also get the Music and have both videos and music without adds, than to pay for music streaming service and additionally for youtube just to be able to watch the videos from your favorite bands.
Anyway, I hate YouTube and prefer not to use it. If I find alternative, i’d gladly pay for it. :)
As for the spotify moving covers, they’re useless. Why would anyone want to look at 3~5 second video on loop, instead of the real video of the song. Especially on TV or something else with screen… ? I can’t understand that. I just think they’ve made it because it’s cheaper for them and probably easier and because they’ve realized that people do not like to look at static text.
The video can usually change your perspective of the song and its meaning, so I think it’s importaint for some songs to come bundled with the video. Of course, you should be able to turn it off as you can in Apple Music.
Very interesting feedback for us @vyrgozunqk thank you!
Deezer can do this wery easy.
The artists folder contains videos, concerts, and so on in separate from the already music in the artists folder.
Like this example.
Madonna
Popular Tracks
Albums
Singles
Viedos
Concerts
Then you can choose video if you want.
Library just gets bigger.
And please stay away from mqa.
There are lots of hifi people here in Norway that run away from Tidal to Qobuz because of quality.
No videos please. It only distracts me from my listening experience. I think Deezer should just focus purely on music streaming and how to improve it further. Youtube already exists for videos. I think the extra bandwidth and effort can be put to better use on higher quality music streaming instead like 24-bit/96kHz or 192kHz Hi-Res FLAC to probably compete with Qobuz and AmazonHD. I agree with @Jan Arild Helgestad, Tidal's MQA is crap so don't go down that path!
Anyway, I am already happy with Deezer's HiFi offering but I am sure there's a small market for Hi-Res music streaming, I am just not sure if it's sustainable and profitable on your end.
Thanks for the comments, @SonovP @Jan Arild Helgestad super cool perspectives
Please concentrate on fixing bugs before adding features.
Im my opinion please stick to music.
Focus on improving the quality of the desktop app and dont loose sight of your core business - MUSIC
Leave videos for you tubers etc… Cant stand. I would really like a better desktop app instead.
Really appreciated, great opinions on the direction of our service @Rgallego @snaut
Music will always be our number 1 passion, no matter what happens!
Heeys everybody … it’s so awesome to get many suggestions on this topic..
I thank everybody who has contributed. And thank you Rudi @Rudi for moderating it and getting all the info .
Cheers all you music lovers .. all the best from Aussie land ..
No
Please refrain from spending precious development energy into implementing anything at all to do with video on Deezer.
There are numerous current and unsolved audio development issues that the team really need to spend their time on - please don’t drag them away.
FW
Absolutely yes, official music video's only though please.
Something along the lines of Roxi would be fantastic. I have the deezer family subscription and don't want to sign up to yet another subscription service just for videos
Would love to see it on the TV versions of the app, not so fussed about videos on desktop /mobile
I’d appreciate a ‘MTV’ mode that I can enable that prioritises the use of videos when playing.
I think it would be a great idea to have MV on Deezer. At times I want to watch MV and not just listen to music. The people who suggested to use YouTube, sure but I don’t want to use YouTube coz lower quality audio and my music playlist are on deezer and not YouTube.
