Deezer Just Rolled Out the World’s First AI Music Tagging System

I have the same question. Came across an artist creating AI generated music, but not being tagged as such.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. I’m not replacing myself with AI, and I’m not claiming AI is “my own.” I compose the music, write the melodies, play the guitars, and shape the arrangement. The AI component is limited to vocal enhancement — similar in spirit to using Melodyne, amp sims, drum libraries, or any other modern production tool.

My issue here isn’t about defending AI. It’s about Deezer incorrectly flagging hybrid productions where the human performance and musical decisions are mine.

You’re free to dislike AI tools, but calling my stance “egoistic” or “ignorant” doesn’t contribute to the discussion. I’m simply explaining why the automatic AI label is inaccurate in my case.

If your question is specifically about reporting AI‑generated music, that’s separate from what I’m talking about. I’m addressing misclassification, not trying to justify anyone’s use of AI.

You came at me with a lot of assumptions, so let me set the record straight. I’ve been playing guitar for 45 years, Hendrix‑style, live, and very human. I also record bass and drums myself when needed. The only synthetic element in my workflow is the vocal processing, which is probably what triggers Deezer’s AI flag.

Be warned though — the track in the clip (She Ain’t Real) is grunge. Real guitars, real playing, real noise.

I wrote the lyrics, played the guitars, and shaped the arrangement. If you want to have a real discussion about modern tools ... virtual drummers, UJam, tonal processing like Celemony, or MIDI‑based guitar workflows, fine. They’re part of the same production toolbox many musicians use today.

What I’m not going to do is trade insults. Your tone toward me was unnecessarily aggressive, and I’m here to talk about Deezer’s mislabeling system not to compete with you or question your craft.

Big news in the world of streaming: Deezer has become the first platform to clearly label albums that include fully AI-generated tracks. If you’ve been wondering how to tell the difference between human-created music and AI content, this is a game changer.

We have recently launched a powerful AI detection tool, and the results are wild—about 18% of music uploaded each day (over 20,000 tracks!) is now fully AI-generated. While most of these tracks don’t go viral, Deezer found that around 70% of their streams are fake, often uploaded to exploit royalty systems.
 

To fight back, we are taking a bold step:

• AI-generated tracks are now clearly tagged so listeners know what they’re hearing.
• These tracks won’t show up in editorial playlists or algorithm-based recommendations.
• And most importantly, fraudulent streams are being filtered out of royalty payments.
   

 

For now, AI-only songs make up just 0.5% of all streams on Deezer, but the trend is growing fast, and with this new tagging system, Deezer is setting a precedent for how streaming platforms can handle the rise of AI music responsibly.

I am a songwriter/lyricist and a poet and use AI to produce music. I do sing but I'm not a musician nor can I afford to pay strangers who are no more connected to me than AI is to create music for me or record with in person. I put out an album of songs I used AI to produce that are 100% my words and my story and a very personal one. One day I hope I will have professional recordings to upload but for publishing purposes I went ahead with the AI assisted songs because I may never be heard otherwise. The problem I have with this new system is that apparently none of my songs on Deezer show songwriter credits and claim that my songs are completely AI generated. My sister put me up on this. I don't worry about being flagged for AI. I'm not ripping anyone off telling my story through songs I used AI to produce. But, Deezer, you are ripping me off if you deny my songwriter credits where lyrics are concerned and you should focus on fixing that before you wind up getting sued for taking what amounts to some snobbish stance on artistry that implies that I rip people off for using AI when streaming services in general as a whole are the biggest rip off to every actual artist allowing their songs to be streamed for fractions of pennies on the dollar. Am I any less of a songwriter than someone who writes songs but has no part in the music and employs singers and professional musicians to produce their songs just because I use AI for the sake of saving time and money? Anyone who actually listens and doesn't use some AI detection system that I'm sure is using AI to detect, will understand that AI had nothing to do with the words which were the products of pain, addictions, heartbreak, fears, experiences and memories that all belong to me. There is a true story of overcoming being told too that is the message of hope I hoped to deliver to people that you, Deezer, are fake as hell for calling fake. Get your shit together and quit hating on poor, starving and aspiring artists who use apps, which is all you are by the way, to produce art they may not be able to produce any other way. I expect my lyrics to receive credit or you can expect hearing more from me about this. If anyone out there is a lawyer please message me if you read this and my songs have yet to be amended to show songwriter credits or leave your info in response to this message. This is a great development! 

The documentation says that AI songs are excluded from your recommendations - what about from the official Deezer playlists? Is AI content ever included here, or is it always excluded?

It would be good if AI tracks could be indicated in other places other than in the Album view - ie, Now Playing screen, Playlists, Search results. Maybe a small “AI” icon (similar to the explicit “E” icon). If I’m searching Deezer, or playing a playlist that someone else has created, it’s not convenient to jump into the Album view for each track to check if a track is AI or not.

And I’d also echo some other people here - it would be great to have a setting to exclude AI tracks entirely.

AI-generated tracks are automatically removed from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. This means that music detected as AI-generated will not appear in listening experiences powered by recommendation systems, including features such as Flow, track mixes or other automated discovery features. At the same time, albums containing AI-generated tracks are tagged, giving listeners clear visibility into what they are listening to.
 

Glad to hear Deezer is doing its part of keeping AI slop away from us. Now let’s take this one step further and label AI generated tracks as such, directly in the playlist. 

Just tell me — I dare you. Is this video AI, or is it me playing bass with a Fishman TriplePlay MIDI interface and rocking out on a Fender Stratocaster? This is how I make music: playing all the instruments myself, using a drum loop, or sometimes even laying down the drum tracks by hand.

AI detectors aren’t foolproof… and yeah, music made with a prompt ain’t music. But music played with real instruments is a different story — even if it’s not your genre. Still, Deezer keeps tagging me as AI even though I’m not. Maybe it’s the amps, distortion, or plug‑ins triggering it. I don’t know. But Deezer labeling my music as AI sucks.

And complaining doesn’t help. It’s like talking to Trump — he only listens to what he wants to hear. Deezer’s helpdesk is the same.

Or maybe — just maybe — it’s because I’m a woman, and some people still think a woman can’t play like Hendrix. So it must be fake, right? Yeah. Sure.

I’ll admit it: I’m pissed off at Deezer and at people crying about AI in music like their detection system is perfect.
