Deezer HiFi goes up to 24-bit/192 kHz!

Related products:AndroidFeaturesiOSMobile appsPlaylistsDesktop/WebMusic

Great news for music lovers! Deezer HiFi now supports lossless high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz, bringing more detail, depth and clarity to your listening experience.

The best part? It's included in eligible paid Deezer plans at no extra cost. No separate Hi-Res subscription needed!

What's new?

Until now, Deezer HiFi offered lossless audio at CD quality (16-bit/44.1 kHz). With this upgrade, compatible tracks can now reach 24-bit/192 kHz.

Think of it like a high-resolution photo: more information can mean finer details. In music, this helps preserve the nuances of the original recording, from vocals and instruments to the dynamics of a performance.

What does “up to 24-bit/192 kHz” mean?

It means Deezer can support lossless high-resolution FLAC recordings at resolutions of up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

The exact resolution depends on the title and the available source master. When a high-resolution version is available, Deezer automatically prioritises the highest-quality version within the existing HiFi experience.

How do I activate it?

Simply select HiFi in your audio-quality settings. Deezer automatically prioritises the highest available quality for each track.

  • Mobile: Go to Profile → Settings → Music or Audio preferences → HiFi.

  • Desktop: Open the audio settings in the player and select HiFi.

A few things to know

  • High-resolution availability
24-bit/192 kHz is available on compatible tracks, with the quality depending on the original recording and master.

  • Will you hear the difference?
You might notice more detail and clarity, especially with compatible headphones or audio equipment. Your setup and listening environment also play a part.

  • Do I need new equipment?
Not necessarily! HiFi works on supported devices, although compatible audio equipment can help you get the most out of high-resolution sound.

  • What about data usage?
Lossless and high-resolution audio can use more data and storage, so Wi-Fi is recommended.

This is great news, although I’ll wager that statistically most Deezer users will not benefit from this due to Bluetooth limitations. Airplay 1 is better, but still does not support HiRes. Would a Deezer Connect feature that allows control of a streamer integrated by wire in to a HiFi system be the next logical upgrade for Deezer?

I’m genuinely happy to see that deezer has responded for those who have been asking for this!

Obviously not everyone will use it, but to have the choice is really what it’s all about.

Some have high-end equipment and a dedicated area to listen and will absolutely love this. Others, like myself, listen via their phones and earbuds while they wash the car in the driveway and will stream at 320 kbps.

A polite reminder that if deezer tracks with industry standards (usually based on label availability), only a small fraction of the catalog will be available in hi-res. That is normal, expected, out of deezer’s control, and should not be a cause for complaints.

    Enjoy your music!

Personally, I listen to my music at 320 kbps and I don’t notice any difference when using higher-quality settings on my Sonos speakers or headphones. However, I think it’s a good thing that the option is there for those who appreciate it, and that users now have the freedom to choose.

@Jaime.Deezer  Deezer already offered CD-quality audio before this update. Everything I’ve listened to since the update—verified via my DAC, which displays the playback quality—is still in that same format (which is perfectly fine and sounds fantastic). But, speaking from a position of total ignorance: is there a list of albums that have had their quality upgraded? Will there soon be a dedicated section for albums with quality higher than 16-bit/44.1kHz?

It would be great to be able to see the specific quality of the songs or albums currently being played.

In any case, congratulations to the programmers and developers at Deezer for making this quality improvement possible.

    😊

P.S. Is it possible to request an option to upload personal tracks in higher quality? Previously, we were limited to 320kbps MP3s—could we now upload them in a better format?

That’s great; the company is becoming more competitive.

Although, for me, it’s irrelevant, I don’t need anything more than what was already available on Deezer, and I don’t hear any difference.

I found an interesting article from Jan 2026 about countries where Spotify Lossless is already available and also where it is not available yet:

Spotify Lossless Country List: Where Spotify’s Lossless Streaming Is Available - Sptfy.bio Blog

As you might know, they do not offer hi-res lossless audio, only 24bit 44.1khz. So this new Deezer offer could be an incentive for Spotify users to switch, especially if they still wait for Spotify Lossless to arrive in their country.

About available hi-res albums on Deezer you should maybe take an educated guess which ones might be the usual suspects for first releases. 😉

Also don’t forget to set your Windows audio settings to 24bit 192khz if your sound card or sound chip and its driver allow this.
