📲 ALGO Customisation: Deezer’s Latest Update Puts You in Charge 📲

Take control of your music experience with Deezer's improved recommendation settings. Learn how to manage your music preferences, dislike tracks you don't want to hear, and customise your algorithm to get better recommendations 🤓

Find out how to make Deezer's algorithm work better for you!

What’s New? 👀

❌ A Smarter, Simpler Ban Button - Say goodbye to songs that just aren’t your vibe. We’ve made the Dislike button easier to find and use—so you can instantly let Deezer know when something’s not hitting right. One tap, and it’s out of your algorithm.

➕➖The ALGOrithm Settings Space - Discover a new dedicated Tab to see which songs and artists are currently influencing your recommendations and edit the list as you please.

🫡 Manage your dislikes - Remove artists and tracks that no longer reflect your taste.

💜 Tune your feed - Add or remove elements to better align with what you want to hear.

How to Use It 💡

How to dislike Tracks or Artists

Don't want to hear a particular song or artist in your recommendations? No problem! Here's how to dislike them:

  • When playing a song, tap dislike button in the player
  • Choose from two options:
    • Don't recommend this track - removes just this song
    • Don't recommend this artist - removes all songs from this artist

Managing Your Disliked Content

Want to see what you've banned or change your mind about something? Here's how:

  • Open your Settings
  • Tap "Manage my dislikes"
  • You'll see lists of all your disliked tracks and artists
  • Changed your mind? Tap the X next to it

*What Happens When You Dislike Something?

When you dislike content, Deezer will:

  • Remove it from your Flow
  • Keep it out of your mixes and recommendations
  • Learn your preferences to suggest better alternatives

By customising your algorithm, you'll see all your liked, disliked and streamed tracks and be able to tweak the list to influence your future recommendations 🤓

Hi @Alfredo.Deezer

Deezer desktop web and Deezer desktop app are displaying differently for me.

This is on Deezer Desktop app

and this is on Deezer Desktop web

I don't know if it's appears to me, or if someone else is seeing the same thing ?

I don’t use the Deezer app, so I don’t know. But I’ve got the same heart icon in the web app.

I’m on 10.36.2 on iOS and iPadOS. Nothing about what is being shown/discussed here.  I refreshed the app list on both devices and they are on 18.4.1.

Can you show EXACTLY the steps to find this?  Start with Home screen, circle the objects to press….

I use Deezer half as much as I could b/c I don’t like what Flow pics at all and none of the pre-configured moods/options work for me.

Don’t you have a liked and disliked option in your Deezer update?

-Go to settings and to music (muziek):

-Go to Manage recommendations (Aanbevelingen beheren)

-There it is:

suggestion to build on this - be able to pre-emptively mark a playlist as one to not suggest / make recommendations form. I.e. sometimes I’ll pop on a lyricless playlist like calm cello, but just for reading - I never want recommendations from this, nor flow based off of it, it’s a narrow set of circumstances I’d want that kind of music and I’d love an easy way to tell Deezer to stop suggesting chill cello to me when I want dark pop bops.

I have a Deezer Family subscription. To my surprise, when I get my favorite songs, it apparently shows the data of all my family, not just mine.

Now when I logged to “excluded songs”, it is also from all the users which does not make sense at all. While I probably could live with recommendations for other family members (although somewhat annoying), excluding songs for other people or getting excluded songs by other members is unacceptable. So please, do something about it.

I have a suggestion @Alfredo.Deezer

Can we have an option for a Blend mode on FLOW ? We can then choose to listen to a few genres at ones and let FLOW surprising us . Please raise it to the team if you can . That would make FLOW even better

Thx

Is it supposed to work in the desktop app and web player, too, and it only works with the latest mobile apps, right?

@bluezzbastardzz 👍

So it is not available in the desktop app yet which still has the old “Manage exclusions” tab which only handles your excluded tracks and artists while the web player has the new “Manage recommendations” tab:

Will the desktop app also get the new “Manage recommendations” tab in the future?

Hi @bluezzbastardzz !

On Desktop web is broken heart and on Desktop app is angry face .

Desktop app ➡ tap on icon angry face to open tab ➡ Manage my exclusions

Desktop web ➡ tap on icon broken heart to open tab ➡ Manage my exclusions

Thanks, I know, you can also click your avatar in the upper right corner of the desktop app for the dropdown menu with the option to manage your exclusions. But there is no option to manage your recommendations in the desktop app yet, that’s why I would like to know if it comes later perhaps.

Great in principle but can you PLEASE make sure the algorithm will send notifications of liked artist releases as its not doing that currently.

THIS. Please.

Any eta to add Manage your recommendations to the desktop app?
