Unstable and glitchy

Why oh why are the Deezer apps so constantly glitchy? And by that I mean streaming intermittently on both desktop Windows app and web app on Chrome with a high-performance 100Mbps wired fibre internet connection. Uninterrupted music streaming is the minimum requirement which you failed to meet for several years, so now it’s “goodbye Deezer” and “hello Spotify” or virtually any other competing service!

Regarding the cache on the desktop app, here you have a couple of screenshots so you can see where the option is located in the app 👍

I hope that helps!

Hi 👋  @GVWYoung

What’s the error message that you are getting on the Deezer web browser and the Deezer desktop app? Or what’s the issue with the music not playing?

Have you tried to clear the cache of the desktop app on your PC and also on Chrome? 👍

Hi Alfredo, thanks for your reply. There’s no error message, just random interruption of the streaming service with total silence for a few seconds or minutes, while all other internet-dependent apps and services that need far more data run perfectly at the same time. Of course I’ve cleared the browser cache but that’s not a useful suggestion nor permanent solution and is the support equivalent of the infamous meme “have you tried turning it off and on again?” Also, not sure what you mean by clearing the cache for the desktop app - is that a hidden feature? Both apps have exactly the same defective behaviour. The solution is to fix the defects and enhance the apps which is not that easy.

@GVWYoung 👋

Yeah, I was just checking the cache thing, just in case!

I can also suggest you to check if the Deezer website or app is blocked by your firewall or security settings (as you are mentioning that this is happening when you use WIFI), and ensure it's recognised as a safe site.

  • Check for Blocked Access:

    • Firewall Settings: Review your firewall settings to see if Deezer's website or app is being blocked or restricted.
    • Security Software: Check your antivirus or security software for any settings that might be blocking Deezer's access.
    • Ad Blockers/Plugins: Ensure any ad blockers or security plugins aren't interfering with Deezer's functionality, and that they reconise Deezer as a safe site.

Hi Alfredo, thanks again for your assistance, clearing the desktop app cache seems to have solved that very irritating bug, many thanks! I will remain loyal to Deezer now, I promise.🙏🏻👊🏻

Hi there again Alfredo, I’m disappointed to have to tell you that the weird intermittent pausing of music srteaming is back, and this time with a regular vengeance - all tracks all the the time, every few seconds despite clearing the cache as you suggested before. Whe it happens the timer just freezes as if I paused the track - when I hit play again it plays for a few seconds then just pauses again (which is the opposte of music streaming and the core purpose of Deezer’s business). It seems there is a nasty bug in the Deezer apps and my guess is something to do with mulltiple devices not handled properly as I use mobile Deezer app as well. But I make sure to shut the mobile app down completely before using the desktop PC app (even though users shouldn’t have to do thaat - a suggestion from one of your support colleagues). The conclusion is that Deezer is unstable and fundamentally defective and this time it is definitely goodbye - there is too much competition out there with tech that is battle-hardened and works consistently. Maybe you should make the same move and join a new outfit!
