unable to link Deezer to Google home smart speaker

I recently signed up with Deezer and got rid of spotify.  I partly choose the app bc it works with android auto and my jbl Google smart speaker where I do 95% of my listening.  Works fine with AA, but I get a 404 error every time I try to link with my speaker in Google home.  Spent 20+ minutes with Google support only to be told to make a feedback report.  Spent 5 minutes with Deezer support and they told me it's a known issue for some with Google and they are working to resolve it. Unsure how long this has been an issue.

So I how will find out if it's been fixed and how widespread is this?  I haven't seen anything come up in search that is recent.

Hi @Dlw9798

You need to pair your Deezer account with your Google speaker first, then you will be able to play music from the app to your speaker and also use the voice commands as well.

Here you have all the relevant info to link your speaker

How to set up Deezer up on Google Home

Make sure your Google Nest Audio device is set up and that you've downloaded the Google Home app from the Play Store.

  1. Within the Google Home GoogleHome.png app, go to the Home tab
  2. Select the add + icon located in the middle of the screen
  3. Within the Manage Services section, select Music and audio
  4. Select the link Link.svg icon under Deezer
  5. Select LINK ACCOUNT
  6. Enter your login details

I did exactly this.  I'm trying to pair them but when I get to the final step I get a 404 error.

Deezer chat support said they know about the issue,  but here I am 3 weeks later and it still doesn't work.

@Dlw9798 these things can take time, especially when it involves another company’s products. Fixing something confined to deezer’s control vs resolving an issue dependent on both Google and deezer and their smooth interaction.

Same issue here. I’m trying Deezer to replace Spotify, this experience may be VERY short. Any chance this issue will be fixed ?

I was having the same issue as you and came across your post. After trying a bunch of things, I finally got mine to work by switching the default browser back to chrome and then doing the link process. This may or may not help you too but I thought I'd mention it.

Make sure both the Google Home app and the Deezer app are updated to their latest versions, and confirm that Deezer is available as a supported music service in your country. Open the Google Home app, go to Settings → Music, and try linking Deezer again by signing in with the correct account credentials.

Thanks so much Dustin.Gillett! I can confirm after a few days of trying, and failing, to get Deezer connected with google home that changing my default browser back to chrome temporarily solved the issue.  Such a stupid bug.
