Streaming from mac app to receiver

I am using the macOS app so that I can get lossless streaming but I can’t figur out how to stream from the app to my receiver. Airplay doesn’t support lossless and there is no chromecasting ability in the mac app (even though the mobile app seems to have that capability). What are my options?

Hi there, you will have to connect it with a cable that transfers lossless files. That is the only option I am afraid.

Chromecast is coming soon to the Desktop app though 😉
Thanks Flo.....now that the mobile app has chromecast ability it it still “flacless”?

Hi there, yes, Flac is still not supported by our mobile apps. But hopefully in the future 🙂
my understanding is that FLAC now is supported on IOS mobile app, but chromecast is still not an option on the desktop app. Is this correct?

Hi, at the moment, Flac quality (HiFi) is only supported on desktop app and some sound systems, nowhere else 😉

Hi,

Still no Chomecast option on the desktop app?   Can you define “soon” please?

thanks.

Hi there @Andrew.Chick

We were expecting to have most of it done by the end of this year, but it's fair to say the work will continue in January. Hopefully at that time, we'll have more updates to give about this. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Still no chromecast support on desktop app (mac). Every single other music player (save Apple, for branding reasons) has this. I’m not an engineer, but it can’t be all that difficult. What’s more, you guys advertise that IS available. What’s up? I’m on a trial membership, but this doesn’t make me want to stick around.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us @Gates Bradley - I completely get where you're coming from. I'm sorry we're unable to provide you with the feature at the moment.

But I'll raise your points with our teams and the fact that we have that info online :thumbsup_tone2:

By the way, as far as I know (not owning anything from Apple) Airplay does indeed support lossless, as it uses its own ALAC format which is almost the same as FLAC, only by Apple. So the necessary conversion between the two similar lossless formats should be possible without any loss, and Airplay converts anything to ALAC before transferring anyhow. So if you can use Airplay instead of Chromecast for your wireless transfer of Deezer’s FLAC streaming with a HiFi account, you’re done.

@Gates Bradley I agree that the passage on the related Devices page for Chromecast showing a yellow HiFi sticker is indeed misleading:

Plug in the device, open the Deezer app and cast your favorite tunes to your TV. Available on Android, iOS, in Deezer for Google Chrome and on the Deezer desktop app.

Android & iOS

So it’s been 3+ years since @Flo.Deezer said that Chromecast is “coming soon” (May 2018!), and 1.5+ years since @Rudi said that it’s almost complete.

Any news on this guys? It’s ok to admit that you’re either:

  1. Unable to get it done
  2. Not willing to get it done - e.g. simply not a priority for you.

But please do not string people along, it’s simply not civil and turns us off as customers.

Hi there @arikkfir

Our latest Chromecast integration has been here already, for quite a long time. We just haven't developed it for the desktop app yet.

So could you please be more specific?

When will I be able to use chromecast from the desktop app please?  Pease use langue like “you will be able to stream to chromecast from the Mac desktop app no later than xx/xx/xxxx (date).  Please be succinct and accurate.

3 years is a long time.

I am a macbook user and have Deezer app installed to it, however there are no options to cast from the app.
There is a cast button from Deezer website , but the button does not work using Opera browser. It works using  google Chrome.

Hello all, Google no longer supports Chromecast setup using a computer. You’ll need to use a mobile device to set up Chromecast.

It only works on Google Chrome because it’s their browser:

That’s weird...It’s possible with spotify, it’s possible with qobuz and it’s possible with Tidal. It’s also possible with Roon. So what you are saying is not valid. Should we switch to the aforementioned providers? Wouldn’t help at the minute with Deezer share price right? We just want honest answers. Otherwise, I see no point sticking around.
