Deezer now has 30 second listening limit on my computer

I am using Deezer on my laptop, with Deezer free, which I have done for years with no issues. Suddenly it is now saying I can only listen to 30 seconds of each song unless I subscribe to Deezer premium.

I have never had this issue on my computer before and I am certainly not subscribing to premium given there are many tracks I listen to that Deezer does not have. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it or am I finally going to have to move to Spotify?

Hey @kb4196

In which country do you live? It could be because Deezer no longer offers “Deezer Free” in many countries.

I’m in the UK

OK, that's not the problem. Deezer Free is (still) available in the UK.

Do you perhaps have an active VPN?

@GropplerZorn

Do you think the US restriction that tracks on “Deezer Free web” only work as 30 second variants has also been rolled out to the UK?

That’s my best guess, yes.

Unofficially, I feel like deezer free as an option is likely on it’s way out, globally. Tidal has discontinued their free option, and to my knowledge Spotify is the only other provider offering a (remotely) viable free tier.

I don’t care for ads and like my streaming quality to be post-2000 MP3 level, but that’s just me. My deezer monthly sub costs less than a sandwich. If I went free, I would just bust out my CD collection (it’s extensive).
