Deezer no longer on Alexa Netherlands?

For years I have used Deezer on my Alexa in the Netherlands. I go away for three weeks in 2024 and I come back and now it doesn't work. I get told that Deezer isn't supported in my location. But it was for years!

What has changed? Why can I no longer use Deezer via my Alexa in the Netherlands? (Obviously I can use bluetooth but that isn't the point right now)

I had the same in Czechia. The Czech Republic was on the list of supported countries few years ago. Then disappeared, but link still worked.

In a back days (ok, month) it stopped working. Support didn't care, because Czechia isn't on list nowadays 🤷‍♂️

Hi @Lggm @jirikovoego, currently, Deezer is supported on Alexa in countries like Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Unfortunately, if your location is not supported, it may be due to our agreements or regulations.

Thank you for your understanding!

@Leonídia.Deezer hello

Why did it work a month ago in Netherlands and Czechia and then stop working? It was working for years. Why the sudden stop without warning?

Honestly @Leonídia.Deezer, tell me why I should pay full price for Deezer if I’m getting incomplete service?

The same topics are no radio stations, no local music editor, very limited podcasts...

Hello @Lggm  @jirikovoego, is it possible that you have changed any setting on Alexa? Like change country?

Because we didn’t change recently, nothing on our side. So either it was some update on settings or Amazon changed something.

I would suggest, if that is the case, to reach out to Amazon Alexa support.

Also, the only workaround that comes to my mind is changing the skill region to a supported country.

Hope it works.

Hey everyone! Any updates on Deezer support by Amazon Alexa, and the Echo devices? I have bought an entire set of Echo Dot speakers, because everywhere I read about them I found that Deezer was supported. Now I am configuring the speakers, and I can only get Spotify & Tune-In radio to work with my speaker. No Deezer skill or login button at the Music & Podcasts section in the Alexa app.

Are there any Dutch Deezer users who have found a solution or workaround, such as changing regions? Could anyone enlighten me on how to do this, because I have a annual Deezer subscription till the end of next year, and can’t keep using someone else’s Spotify account. Besides, I like Deezer better than the competition.

Hopefully I didn’t waste my money on all these Echo speakers 😂 They seemed like neat little devices, for a good price (seemingly😳)

Anyone who got it working, or has a workaround?
Take care & Merry X-Mas

You need to switch your Alexa’s region to one of the supported countries.

You need to switch your Alexa’s region to one of the supported countries.

I didn’t really know where to change my country, and region, so I transfered my entire amazon account to the UK, giving a random address in the City of London. I used the guidance on the following Amazon FAQ page:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ref_=hp_gcs_csd_d2_000_1_GKLNQTSN7HKK5SBT_SzQKHbLmsa&nodeId=GKLNQTSN7HKK5SBT&qid=1767303460089&sr=1

I hope this works, as just change Alexa’s Language from the Alexa app doesn’t make Deezer an option in the ‘Skills & Games’ section. I hope switching my entire devices to a random address in London does work, and doesn’t mess up my experience on other Amazon services, like ordering from the Dutch marketplace or Prime Video.

I’ll let you guys know how it went, because I guess it takes some time for the changes to be processed, as Deezer still isn’t an option in my Alexa app, after changing language and location of my account.

edit: now it worked, after also deleting my current home address that was used for my speakers location (and weather info). I changed it to the beautiful London Eye Ferris wheel 🤣. Now I was finally able to connect my Deezer account to play music ad-free, and without limitations. I don’t know if I took it a step to far by changing all that personal location data though… Nevertheless, it worked 👍

A quick update and yet another question...:

Currently, I am able to stream music from Deezer on my Echo speakers by asking ‘Play music from Deezer’ with a voice command. However, I am not able to browse my deezer playlists, search for albums or artists using the Alexa app, or the Deezer app. With Spotify, this was possible using both apps. Am I the only one experiencing this; is this the limitation I have to live with? It seems Alexa doesn’t support browsing anything using the Alexa app, or the Deezer app, but only voice commands are possible. Unfortunately, 9/10 Alexa will misunderstand me, and play rubbish frankly.

I can use commands like “play my favorite songs,” “play song X,” “play songs by (artist) Y,” or “play playlist Z,” but the last one is pretty unreliable. My own playlists usually work fine, but the public ones are hit or miss.

Yeah, well as you pointed out, that works quite well now. I did a reboot of all my speakers and also changed my Dezzer country to the UK. I also renamed my playlists in so the chance of Alexa misunderstanding the name of the list are smaller. For example, my top lists are now named: ‘A-list, B-list and ‘C-list’ 😂 I guess British Alexa will have no problem with understanding my voice saying that, especially after finishing the voice recognition improvement wizard in the app (still need to do that one).

The only thing ‘new’ that happened is that my Audible purchases now do show up in my Alexa app haha. I am not going to try a hard reset of all my six Echo speakers, because Amazon discourages that, and I’m not going to risk breaking stuff that works and took quite a while to setup and finetune.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions! 😊
Have a great weekend!
