It used to work, but now my uploaded MP3s do not play in Chromecast. They still play fine when playing via the Android or Desktop apps.

Hi there, so where are they not playing from? From the browser? Does everything else stream normally?

Please give me more details on this 😉

Hi Flo,

It's not playing from both Android and browser when streaming through Chromecast. Everything else is okay, except for the current known issues, e.g. 30sec play on some tracks.

Hi there, we just tested it here and had no issues. Have you tried to delete and reupload them?

I tried to reupload one particular album, but no luck. Btw, I have more than a thousand tracks, so please do not expect me to reupload all of them.

As mentioned before, it was working previously, and now they do not play in Chromecast. I can only play them on the desktop and Android apps without casting.

Hi there, we have tested this and could not reproduce the problem. Could you tell us which operating system you have on your computer and which Deezer version you have installed on both devices? Do you get an error message or is it just silent when you cast it?

Desktop is Windows 10 (latest update), using Chrome 69.0.3497.100.

Android phone is Sony Xperia XZ, using latest Deezer app version.

No error message, the Deezer app in Chromecast just says Loading... and then stops.

Hi there, have you tried our Android troubleshooting? 🙂 https://en.deezercommunity.com/troubleshooting-and-tips-4/android-issues-symptoms-and-answers-120
Same issue here!

My mp3s stopped being played on Chromecast (from Android and Desktop), it was fine ca. 3-4 weeks ago. It just jumps to the next song.

In Android app it even removes the songs from playlists (or "hides" them, cause in desktop they are still there).

Chromecast firmware 1.32.124741
Mac 10.12.6
Chrome 70.0.3538.77
Android 7.0 - Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
Deezer 6.0.2.89

@benedikt.winder could you send us a screenshot of you are seeing when you try to play your own mp3s? 🙂

Thanks for your reply. On Android it looks like this. It skips all tracks and then it doesn't play anything. Do you need some further information? Best regards.

Hi there @benedikt.winder

Have you tried reinstalling the app and uploading them again to see if it helps?

Hi @benedikt.winder can you please tell us exactly which devices you are using, which versions of the app these devices are on etc.? We need more details about this in order to pass this on and look into it more closely.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Sure i have more information.

Smartphone: BQ Aquarix X2
Android Version: 9.0 Patch Level April 2019
Deezer Version: Latest Beta (6.1.2.44)
Chromecast Audio Frimware Version: 1.39.154182

On the PC:

Windows 10 1809
Chrome Versin: 75.0.3770

Do you need any further information? Thanks!
Same Issue here.
Using android 7.0 on my Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo. I just updated to latest deezer's version (6.1.7.111) after seeing this issue and still not working. Same issue that benedikt.winder has. Skips all the songs on cast but when playing directly on jack no problem.

I also have the latest version of ChromeCast 1.40.156414.

I'll try reloading the files.. but they were added 2 days ago... It's not very convenient if I have too reload songs every time I want to cast.
Same problem here.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Similar issue here but with Google Home Hub rather than Chromecast (same process really though). Uploaded songs don't cast and in some cases disappear from the playlist entirely.  Looks like this issue has been going gor over a year now without resolution.

Hi @funkyl due to music licensing restrictions it is not possible to play own Mp3’s via Chromecast / Google Home. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

This really sucks.  The reason why I want to cast to my Google/Nest Mini and Google/Nest Hub (I set up a speaker group) is because they produce better sound than my laptop/Android speakers.

Deezer casts as well as Google Play Music, both of which are way better than YouTube Music.  My tracks are not high res.

If it is my mp3, what licencing restriction is there, I made it, I own it.

IMHO this is just Deezer trying to push its content on us.

I think I am going to ditch Google and Deezer because it doesn’t work for me, the moment I can find something that does.

Hi @brucedenney what do you mean with your own mp3? Are you an artist?
The song needs to be on the Deezer in order to Cast it… If you upload an MP3 you’ll be able to play in in your phone or computer only.
Thanks:relaxed:

Yes exactly, it is my recording of my music.

I am not placing any licencing restrictions on it.

Thanks for coming back @brucedenney

Ok, the feature doesn't support MP3s yet as it doesn't support all of the Deezer app features - there's no specific decision to omit MP3 from casting.

And it isn't about pushing our content, Bruce, we're a streaming service, not an MP3 player. This is an extra for our users to have their own catalogue if we haven't added the content they want yet.

In any case, stay tuned to our community for updates, we hope to boost our casting options this year and your feedback is essential - in the meantime, Happy New Year! :relaxed:
