I’m using the web app in Google Chrome on Windows 11 and casting to a Chromecast Audio.  It works fine, but disconnecting the Chromecast, either manually or automatically (I think it disconnects automatically after about 15-20 minutes), the stream starts up again locally once the connection to the Chromecast device is disconnected.  This happens even if the music was previously paused using the controls in the web app.  The only workaround is to use the media controls in Chrome; when you pause the stream there and the Chromecast disconnects sometime later, the stream does not resume.

The main issue is that I paused my stream and started a virtual work meeting, only to hear my music start playing for everyone on the call to hear about 15-20 minutes later.  I wanted to report this issue, as it would be nice if the music is paused that it doesn't automatically resume after a Chromecast disconnect event.

Hello there @sierrajmk, sorry for the late reply.

Can you try updating your browser or deleting cache/cookies and tell me if you still experience this issue?

It only happens on browser right? Not when you cast from the app?

Thanks for the reply, @Yula.  I tried this on an updated Chrome browser on a new OS install (no cache/cookies) and got the same result.  This only happens on the web browser player, not Android or iOS (I use these too).

This is probably just a code fix in the web player to, on Chromecast disconnect, do one of the following options:

  1. Only resume the stream if it was previously playing
  2. Ask if you want to resume playing locally (plex does this)
  3. Don’t resume the stream at all (let the user manually press play)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Play music on the web player and cast to Chromecast
  2. Press pause to pause the music
  3. Wait 15-20 minutes and get startled when the music suddenly starts playing locally :)

Thank you @sierrajmk

I sent the info to our developers, they are working on it to reproduce the issue here and solve it as soon as possible, but we sadly don’t have any data for launch an update now. 😥

We will keep you informed once we solve the problem.

Take care.
