hi, deezer practically does not work with the cambridge audio cnx v2 (network player) in chromecast mode. Can you help me?

Yes it is. The system hangs constantly. I want to understand, Deezer does not like Cambridge or vice versa? With other services, everything is fine.

We do have some issues with chromecast, but our devs are working on it right now!

 Deezer admits that it currently does not work reliably with Chromecast. Deezer keep saying they’re working on it but they’ve been saying that for a very long time now. Supposed to be something major happening at the end of this year but they’ve said that before as well. I’ve gone to Tidal but was using Spotify which works very well with Chromecast. Must be costing them money in subscriptions! Pity, as I much prefer the Deezer interface.

It's taking longer than usual because Google has actually started developing a new cast protocol. We want to be ahead of everyone by preparing ourselves for this. Thank you for your understanding :thumbsup_tone2:

i still cant cast deezer to the cambridge cxn v2… a real pitty

Something has happened in the last few days and it is not possible to connect with deezer to cnx v3

Deezer will still cast to google assistants and chromecast no probs, and plays on phone and tablet fine. Spotify and Amazon cast ok to CXNv2.

Tried re- installs, remove sims, factory resets etc. 

Deezer just won’t cast to CNXv2.  started here (Australia) two days ago after app update.

Hi, I just discovered this issue.   two weeks ago I was using a Samsung S9 streaming Spotify and deezer just fine to the Cambridge CXNv2.   My S9 was very old, so I upgraded to S20 FE 5G (TMobile).   

I had deezer streaming on S20 to CXNv2 beautifully (sound was amazing, no skips, etc.) for about 2 days, but then installed Spotify on S20 and somehow deezer stop casting, It get’s stuck trying to connect.  Note: deezer will chromcast to other devices in my house, just not CXNv2.

I also moved from Spotify to Deezer 3 weeks ago, and upgraded to Deezer Hi-Fi.

uninstalled deezer/spotify/streammagic multiple times

factory reset CXNv2 multiple times

factory reset S20

This is unfortunate, the main reason to have deezer is for Flac HD content to a good streamer like the CXNv2, but it doesn’t work well, or gets corrupted somehow.  I think the corruption is in the CXNv2, because deezer on S20 will cast to other devices fine.

 

 

 

Hi, just an update - Cambridge released a FW upgrade for the CXNv2 just since a few days ago (2/22/2022)  and now my Deezer Hi-Fi mobile app - connects and plays from an android to the CXNv2.

I think the last number (1.52.272222) is the chromecast built-in version number, I think this is what solved the issue.

 

 

 

 

@JDLoneCactus Where did you find that update? According to the Cambridge website version 022-a-103 is the latest firmware (9th November 2021). LINK Cambridge


My Cambridge player also has 022-a-103 and can't find any newer versions.

Hi D-Reece,  below is the response I got from Cambridge regarding this issue:

 

I guess they were able to identify my CXNv2 player by this number above (00205e79) and push out a firmware update to my player, I didn’t realize they could do this - fantastic support.  I had contacted them about 3 weeks ago, and suggested they update their chromecast built-in version, and they did.

If you contact Cambridge customer support with this same issue, they can probably update your  player as well.  I guess they want to test it more carefully before pushing out a wide firmware release.

They also asked me to test every mode I could and let them know if there are any issues….

I am honestly afraid to try spotify and then switch back to deezer, this is how it broke the first time.

Hi John,

I have now requested that your unit is moved to a test group which has an updated Chromecast SDK that we're hoping should resolve your issue.

If this indeed works as expected, we will look to implement this fix within a future firmware update once it's been cleared by Google.

Please let me know how you get on once you've been able to test this.

I also reached out to Cambridge. Very quick reply within a day. They put my unit in the test group as well and pushed the test firmware update to my CXN V2. The problem is now solved. They are still waiting for Google clearance to release this firmware update.

This is great information, thank you all for sharing. After the firmware push, are you generally happy with the Cambridge / Deezer’s shared performance? Also, did you just email the generic customer service address?

Hasn’t worked for about 6 weeks. There has also been two android app updates.

I really don’t want to ditch Deezer ?

If you have the Cambridge StreamMagic app  you can select early update in the settings. It will then start downloading the update which is Service pack v22-a-124+a. And the casting will work again.

Chromecast stopped working on Deezer for many of us using original Chromecast and Chromecast Audio devices about 6 weeks ago. This appears to be a Deezer issue and not a Cambridge problem.

It may be a Deezer problem, but it seems Cambridge fixed something with their latest firmware which isn't available unless you select early update in the StreamMagic app. It started working again after I did this update on my CXN v2

Chromecast streaming still works on newer Google TV devices for whatever reason so I assume Cambridge updated their Chromecast instance. It appears to be a back-end Deezer update that broke it about 6 weeks ago since other services aren't affected.
