Dolores O’Riordan, singer, songwriter with The Cranberries who had the 1994 hit singles ‘Linger’, 'Dreams' and 'Zombie'. The bands 1993 album Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can’t We spent a total of 86 weeks on the UK chart. In 2020, the official music video for ‘Zombie’ became the first song by an Irish band to reach over one billion views on YouTube. O’Riordan died unexpectedly on 15 January 2018 while she was in London, England, for a recording session.

His album Play was the biggest-selling UK indie album of 2000, spending 81 weeks on the chart and going platinum in over 20 countries. Moby is a descendant of 'Moby Dick' author Herman Melville. In addition to his music career, Moby is recognised for his veganism and advocacy for animal rights and humanitarian causes.

The album had over 80.6 million global streams on Spotify and earned the Guinness World Record for the most opening-day streams for an album by a female artist. 1947 -was born Marc Bolan


English guitarist, singer, songwriter, Marc Bolan (born Mark Feld), best known as the lead singer of the glam rock band T. Rex. In the late 1960s, he rose to fame as the founder and leader of the psychedelic folk band Tyrannosaurus Rex, with whom he released four critically acclaimed albums and had one minor hit, 'Debora'. He had the 1971 UK No.1 single 'Hot Love', plus over 20 other UK Top 40 singles, and the 1972 US No.10 single 'Bang A Gong (Get It On)'. Bolan strongly influenced artists of many genres. After seeing Bolan wearing Zandra Rhodes-designed outfits, Freddie Mercury enlisted Rhodes to design costumes for the next Queen tour in 1974. Bolan was the early guitar idol of Johnny Marr, who later found fame as the guitarist of the influential indie rock band the Smiths. Bolan was killed in a car accident on 16th September 1977 aged 29 a fortnight before his 30th birthday.
