Many musicians wear masks or have masked alter egos for a variety of reasons, including artistic expression, privacy, and to create a sense of mystery. These masked personas can add a layer of intrigue and alter the way the audience perceives the music.

Kiss: This American rock band is famous for their face paint and theatrical stage outfits. With their makeup and costumes, the band members took on the personas of comic book-style characters: the Starchild (Stanley), the Demon (Simmons), the Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss).

Daft Punk: This French electronic music duo (Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) became iconic for wearing custom made robot helmets, which became their signature look.

Marshmello: Christopher Comstock, known professionally as Marshmello, is an American DJ and record producer. He is known for his large, white, marshmallow-shaped helmet.

Ghost: This Swedish rock band known for combining costumed theatricality on-stage presence. Ghost's members, except for the lead vocalist, are known as "Nameless Ghouls". The lead-singer has performed under the persona of "Papa Emeritus", a character known for its anti Pope demonic imagery, while changing this for subsequent tours.

Orville Peck: Daniel Pitout known professionally as Orville Peck is a South African country musician. He wears a fringed Lone Ranger-style mask and has never publicly revealed his face.

Slipknot: This heavy metal band is is instantly recognizable for their elaborate, horror-inspired masks and matching stage outfits, emphasizing their dark and aggressive musical style.

Deadmau5: Canadian electronic music producer and DJ Joel Thomas Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5 (pronounced “dead-mouse”), is known for performing wearing a large, stylized  inflatable mouse head. 

Claptone: is a German DJ and producer who specializes in house and tech house genres. Claptone performs while wearing a golden, plague doctor-style mask, preserving his anonymity and adding a mysterious visual identity to his persona.

Lordi: This Finnish rock band is known for their use of monster-inspired masks, horror elements, and pyrotechnics during live performances and music videos, enhancing their theatrical image.
