Powerful vocalist and songwriter Avery Anna released her latest song, "Wish You Well," last Friday. In the new song, written by Avery with David Fanning and Jon Hume, the singer finds the right path and chooses forgiveness after a difficult relationship.

"'Wish You Well' is about forgiveness—not about forgetting, but about letting go of someone and allowing yourself to move past the things people did to hurt you, which is something I've had to do recently in my life," says Avery. "I hope it helps you forgive yourself."

"It's still so personal to me that I don't know if anyone really knows who it's about. I guess it's my 'You're So Vain' moment, Carly [Simon] did it," Crow says. "People thought it was [about Clapton] because I'd been dating him for a while; I love Eric and admire him, but the song was older than that."

The song, about a cheating ex she can't bring herself to hate, was the first single from her 1998 album The Globe Sessions, and despite rumors that it was inspired by a late-'90s romance with Eric Clapton, Crow tells People that's not the case. She even compares it to Carly Simon's 1972 hit "You're So Vain," whose narcissistic themes Simon has sworn never to reveal publicly (though she did say in 2015 that verse two was about Warren Beatty).
