This mild-mannered English outfit first drew stateside notice when several of its songs were featured on “CSI: New York” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” and on its first full-length (following a pair of 2011 EPs), Scars on 45 sounds determined to maintain a home on TV. Strummy, harmony-glazed ditties like “Burn the House Down,” “Warning Sign” and “The Way That We Are” feel custom-designed for emphasizing moments of emotional revelation, with ingratiating folk-pop melodies and lyrics about fighting in the pouring rain to hide one’s tears.

On October 25, after two years of silence, Peach Pit returned to the musical sphere with the release of their fourth full-length album, "Magpie", which consists of 11 tracks and runs for just under 46 minutes. For fans of the quirky Canadian indie-pop group, "Magpie" had a lot to live up to, considering the success of their debut "Being So Normal" (2018) and the unapologetic authenticity of "You and Your Friends" (2020 ). 

Magpie's upbeat mood and fast pace are a departure from the slower rhythms and melancholic themes of From 2 to 3. Smith stated that this change was on purpose, as the band prefers to play upbeat songs live.

"Magpie" follows the story of someone who struggles with compulsive drinking habits. Despite the song's unfortunate undertones, it manages to be the most uplifting song on the album, with an overall upbeat feel.
