One-Hit Wonder Song

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" is a 1988 song by Bobby McFerrin, released as the first single from his album Simple Pleasures (1988).
It was the first a cappella song to reach number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a position it held for two weeks. Released in conjunction with the film Cocktail, the song peaked at number one on September 24, 1988, displacing "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses.

Bobby McFerrin wrote "Don't Worry, Be Happy" to share a message of joy and simplicity. He drew inspiration from an inspirational poster featuring a quote by the Indian spiritual guru Meher Baba.

The 1988 music video for Bobby McFerrin’s hit song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" features a small, comedic cast consisting of singer Bobby McFerrin, actor and comedian Robin Williams, and clown/vaudeville performer Bill Irwin. The video was directed by Drew Takahashi.

What is a One-Hit Wonder?

A one-hit wonder is a musical artist or band that achieves significant, mainstream popularity with a single hit song but fails to replicate that success with subsequent work. While sometimes having other minor hits, they are primarily remembered by the general public for one defining, often highly memorable, popular song.

That song became a universal way of saying "just calm down", from middle school through college.
