Happy birthday to Neil Finn! Today, May 27th, is the perfect moment to celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most brilliant and respected songwriters in Spanish and English pop-rock. Born in Te Awamutu, New Zealand, in 1958, Finn displayed an innate melodic sensibility from a very young age. His musical journey formally began in the late 1970s when he joined Split Enz, the avant-garde band led by his older brother, Tim Finn, where Neil quickly demonstrated his talent by composing the international hit "I Got You."

After Split Enz disbanded, Neil Finn founded Crowded House in 1985, the group that would definitively establish him in the global music scene. Accompanied by bassist Nick Seymour and the late, great drummer Paul Hester, Finn brought to life true intergenerational anthems like "Don't Dream It's Over" and "Weather With You." His songs, characterized by bittersweet melodies, perfect vocal harmonies, and lyrics of great emotional depth, became the soundtrack of the '80s and '90s, cementing his status as a first-rate pop craftsman.

Beyond the massive success of Crowded House, Finn's career has been distinguished by an insatiable artistic curiosity. He has released acclaimed solo albums, collaborated again with his brother as The Finn Brothers, and spearheaded the community project 7 Worlds Collide. In a surprising and exciting turn in his career, in 2018 he joined the legendary British-American band Fleetwood Mac as lead guitarist and vocalist for their world tour, bringing his mastery to a historic repertoire and demonstrating the enormous respect he commands from his peers in the industry.

Today, Neil Finn remains a beacon of active creativity. He has revived Crowded House alongside his sons Liam and Elroy, proving that music is a family legacy that continues to bear fruit with the release of new albums and international tours. With decades of experience, his ability to capture the complexity of the human experience in three-minute songs remains undiminished, securing his place as one of the most elegant, relevant, and beloved songwriters in contemporary music.
