🤘 Nu-Metal is more alive than ever 🎸

The new wave of nu-metal isn’t nostalgia: it’s evolution. Young bands are mixing the heavy riffs of the 90’s with modern sounds like metalcore, hyperpop, and shoegaze. Here are some of the most notable ones:

Vended

The direct heir band of Slipknot. Formed by Griffin Taylor (son of Corey Taylor) and Simon Crahan (son of Shawn “Clown” Crahan). Their sound is furious, rhythmic, and packed with all the energy of Des Moines.

Playuh

A nu-metal project featuring Israel Arvizu (son of Fieldy, former Korn bassist) on bass and Justice Sandoval (son of P.O.D.’s Sonny Sandoval) on vocals. They’re carrying the family legacy into a new generation with Limp Bizkit covers and original material. 

As of late 2026, the SoCal nu-metal revival band PlaYuH has not yet officially released or announced a release date for their first full-length studio album.

Tallah

Self-proclaimed “nu-core”, they blend Slipknot-level intensity with modern production and dark lyrics.

Bloodywood

Hailing from India, they take nu-metal to a global level with danceable rhythms, conscious lyrics, and a unique fusion.

Loathe

A Liverpool-based band pushing the boundaries between Deftones, Meshuggah, and pure experimentation.

South Arcade

Nu-metal energy with pop instincts and a frontwoman who commands the stage. Born from the TikTok phenomenon.

Glasswaves

From Rochester, NY, with an upcoming debut on SharpTone. Sharp, modern sound.

Tetrarch

An American band with a sound built on heavily down-tuned guitars and catchy choruses that directly recall Korn and Mudvayne.
