Let's do this, it's 4/20 and the body knows it!

What’s up, everyone! Get comfortable, grab your nearest munchies, and let's talk about the date that gets more than a few people vibrating (and trippin'): World Marijuana Day.

Every April 20th, the whole world joins in a "collective smoke" to celebrate the famous 4/20. But what is this vibe really about, and why does the "party" come so naturally to us in Latam?

Where did this "4/20" thing come from?

You’ve probably heard a thousand stories: that it’s a police code, that it’s the number of chemical compounds in the plant... Total urban legends!

The truth is, it all started in the 70s with some kids in California called "The Waldos." They used to meet at 4:20 PM after school to search for a "treasure" (an abandoned crop). They never found the treasure, but they did invent the most famous code in the world. Talk about a win!

From "Grandma’s Remedy" to "Homegrown"

In Latin America, the relationship with Mary Jane goes way back. Who hasn't heard their grandma say that marijuana soaked in alcohol is "great for rheumatism"? We went from hiding it in the darkest corner to seeing it today in Senate debates, CBD oils, and even gummies.

What we love about 4/20:

  • The Creativity: From the person who rolls a joint that looks like a feat of civil engineering, to the nicknames we give it: mota, sinsemilla, zacatito pa'l conejo, la juanita.

  • The Munchies: Let’s be honest, there’s no better place in the world for the munchies than Mexico. Some al pastor tacos with extra pineapple or esquites with plenty of spicy chili are absolute heaven.

  • The Community: Seeing the marches and picnics in parks where the smell of "burning straw" joins strangers in deep conversations about whether dogs have belly buttons.

It’s Not All Laughs
A Little Bit of Seriousness

As much as we love the fun, April 20th is also a day to remember that people are still fighting for full legalization and responsible consumption. It’s not just about "flying high"; it’s about rights, medicine, and stopping the stigma against those who decide to take a puff.

Heads up: If you’re going to join the celebration, do it with respect. Not all lungs are created equal, and it’s always better in a safe environment. And don’t even think about driving—the only thing that should be flying is your spirit!

To Wrap Things Up...

Whether you use it for anxiety, to stop your knees from aching, to create art, or simply to watch a cartoon and laugh at nothing: Happy 4/20!

So, do you have your lighter ready, or do you need a little "nudge"?
