Joe Satriani is an American rock guitarist, composer, and producer. Known as one of the most influential instrumental rock guitarists of all time, Satriani has sold over ten million albums and received 15 Grammy Award nominations.

Before becoming a global sensation, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor. His lessons shaped many guitar legends who later achieved worldwide fame.

After years of teaching and occasional gigs, Satriani self-financed and released his first full-length album, Not of This Earth, in 1986. He achieved real success a year later with the platinum-selling Surfing with the Alien, which is considered one of the most important instrumental rock albums in history.

His style is unique for its fusion of rock energy and jazz techniques, and is recognizable by techniques such as:
