On September 5th, music fans all over the world come together to celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest rock icons ever, Freddie Mercury.
 


 

Born as Farrokh Bulsara in 1946 in Zanzibar, Mercury's legacy as the extraordinary frontman of Queen remains unparalleled in the annals of rock history. His powerful voice, impeccable showmanship, and groundbreaking music continue to inspire generations.

Freddie Mercury formed Queen with Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon in 1970. The band's unique blend of rock, opera, and theatrical performances elevated them to rockstars category. Tracks like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Are The Champions", “Under Pressure” and "Somebody To Love" remain anthems that transcends time.

A Musical Prodigy
At the age of seven he began taking piano lessons and quickly showed a natural talent. By the time he was eight, he was already performing on stage.

Cat Lover
Freddie was a passionate cat lover. He had several cats over the years, and his solo album “Mr. Bad Guy” was dedicated to his feline friends.

Art School Graduate
Before becoming a rock star, Freddie Mercury graduated from Ealing Art College in London with a degree in graphic design.

Famous Teeth
His prominent teeth were due to having four extra incisors, which he believed gave him his impressive vocal range. He refused to get them fixed, fearing it would affect his singing.

World Record for “Bohemian Rhapsody”
"Bohemian Rhapsody” (written by him), remains one of the most celebrated songs in rock history. In November 2018, it became the most-streamed song from the 20th century.

Iconic Mic Stand
Mercury was known for his distinctive use of a broken microphone stand. This happened by accident during a performance, but he liked the freedom it gave him and continued to use it.

Unforgettable performances
Queen's performance in Wembley Stadium at Live Aid in 1985 is considered one of the greatest rock performances of all time, and the most avid fans say that “for 21 minutes England was ruled by a different Queen

I never bought Queen CD's before, but when The Greatest Hits were released, I bought them right away. Still have them.
