The soundtrack from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me was released in 1992. Composed by Angelo Badalamenti, it also features vocals from Badalamenti, Julee Cruise and Jimmy Scott, and music by Thought Gang.

The phrase "Fire walk with me"- central to David Lynch’s 1992 psychological horror film and the broader Twin Peaks mythology - functions on multiple symbolic, narrative, and metaphorical levels.

1. A Bridge Between Worlds and Dimensions
The Black Lodge and Spiritual Forces: In the lore of Twin Peaks, the phrase is tied to the dark, extradimensional spirits (such as BOB and MIKE) and the Black Lodge.

The Poem: It connects to the lodge poem ("Through the darkness of future past / The magician longs to see / One chants out between two worlds / Fire walk with me"). The phrase acts as an invocation or a bridge allowing entities and consciousness to pass between the physical world and the spiritual inferno.

Electricity as Evil: In Lynch's imagery, fire and electricity represent the conduit for dark, invasive forces entering the human and natural world.

2. A Metaphor for Trauma and Abuse
Walking Through Inferno: Rather than a literal command, "fire walk with me" serves as a metaphor for descending into hell—or living through an agonizing, burning reality of abuse, addiction, and psychological fracture.
Centering the Victim: As explored in critical analyses like Slow Burn Horror, the film shifts Laura Palmer from a passive corpse in a murder mystery to a tragic hero enduring real-world terror. The supernatural elements (like BOB) act as masks or externalized symbols for very human, earthbound trauma.
Fire vs. Control: As noted in the series, "When this kind of fire starts, it is very hard to put out," referencing how systemic or generational abuse and inner pain consume a person from the inside out.

3. A Ritual of Endurance
On a symbolic level, walking through fire represents a trial of faith, endurance, or a way to transcend normal reality and physical/emotional agony. For Laura, it represents surviving the unendurable until she reaches a point of release and reclamation of her own story.

Angelo Badalamenti's music is what stays with me most — it is haunting without ever feeling overdone, and it gives the whole film such a distinctive atmosphere. I have not watched the film in a while, but hearing the score again makes me want to revisit it.
