1999 film The Mummy features an iconic orchestral score composed, conducted, and produced by Jerry Goldsmith (with orchestration by Alexander Courage).

A blend of traditional European symphonic orchestration with regional ethnic instruments (such as the bouzouki), heavy brass and percussion, and thematic motifs for Imhotep, the love story, and hero Rick O'Connell.

 Track Highlights

 "Imhotep" (Track 1)
    - Introduces the dark, brooding primary motif for the high priest Imhotep, featuring heavy brass, low-end percussion, and an ominous ancient atmosphere.

"Tuareg Attack" (Track 3)
    - An exciting action cue that mixes full orchestral brass with a Greek bouzouki to add a distinct Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean regional flavor.

"The Caravan" (Track 6)
    - A soaring cue that blends the sweeping, romantic love theme with exotic Egyptian color and a heavenly chorus.

"Camel Race" (Track 7)
    - A fast-paced, rhythmic adventure track, famous for its energetic drive (though noted by purists for a slight master-tape buzz defect on the original recording).

"Rebirth" (Track 13)
    - The centerpiece of the album (over 8 minutes long), featuring dramatic orchestral swells, sweeping leitmotifs, and dense thematic storytelling.

"The Mummy" & "The Sand Volcano" (Tracks 14 & 15)
    - A climactic pairing showcasing Goldsmith's trademark brass power, descending motifs, and massive cinematic scope.

Jerry Goldsmith really captured the adventure here. The brass in The Caravan gives me goosebumps every time, and Camel Race is perfect for that sense of momentum. It is one of those scores that works just as well on its own as it does with the film.
