Two songs from the album, "Footloose" and "Let's Hear It for the Boy," reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
"Footloose" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe in 1985.
In 2018, the title track "Footloose" was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.
