Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a feature idea that could make the listening experience on Deezer even more engaging, especially for users who enjoy interactive content alongside music.

What if Deezer introduced a light, in-app word game feature, similar to puzzle-style games like Letter Boxed, where users could play quick word challenges while listening to music? For example:

  • Daily word puzzles themed around song titles or artist names
  • Challenges where you connect letters to form words inspired by lyrics
  • Leaderboards or streaks tied to listening habits

I think this could be a fun way to combine music discovery with gameplay, especially for users who enjoy both puzzles and playlists. It might also help with engagement by giving users something interactive to do while listening.

Of course, it would need to stay simple and optional so it doesn’t distract from the core music experience.

What do others think?

  • Would you enjoy a small word game feature inside Deezer?
  • Any ideas on how it could connect with playlists or artists?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 🎧

Hi @Hellen charless !

On Deezer we have Deezer Quiz and Music Box games.

Deezer Quiz is an interactive, in-app music trivia feature that tests your knowledge across various genres, artists, and themes. Users listen to 10 song clips (up to 30 seconds each) and must identify the song, with faster answers earning higher points, often featuring competitive modes and social sharing.

Deezer Quiz
Gameplay: Each quiz consists of 10 questions with four answers to choose from.
Scoring: You can win up to 100 points per song, with higher points for faster guesses.
Variety: Quizzes cover genres, artists, seasonal themes (e.g., Christmas), and popular hits.
Accessibility: Available to both free and premium users worldwide.
Modes: Features include solo play and a "Party Mode" (desktop) for playing with friends.
Location: Found directly in the Deezer app and on the web browser homepage.

You can find the feature in the "Explore" tab or under "Music Quiz" in the app.

Also we have Music Box group where you can participate in various music-related topics (located in the Deezer community)
Join and try to find songs in the given topics, song titles, etc.
By participating, you will discover some new songs and remember old ones, and along the way you will have fun guessing the given words.

There is a possibility to listen to music on Deezer and at the same time solve puzzle-style games like Letter Boxed.

Great idea, Hellen! Mixing music with interactive word puzzles is such a creative way to keep users engaged. I especially love the concept of daily challenges built around song titles and artist names — it makes music discovery feel more fun and rewarding at the same time.

The leaderboard idea tied to listening habits is a clever touch too. It adds a competitive element without pulling focus away from what Deezer does best. As long as it stays optional and lightweight, this could genuinely be a standout feature that sets Deezer apart from other streaming platforms.

Would love to see this tested as a beta feature — fingers crossed the team picks this up! 🎧 great

Love this idea too—it actually reminds me a lot of how Letter Boxed-style puzzles keep people coming back daily.

What makes it really interesting is how well that format could translate to music. Imagine a Letter Boxed-inspired challenge where you have to connect song titles or artist names using certain constraints (like last letter → first letter, or limited “letter pools” tied to genres or moods). It would turn passive listening into something much more interactive.

The daily challenge angle fits perfectly as well—similar to how word puzzle players build streaks, this could encourage users to:

  • Explore new artists
  • Think more actively about music connections
  • Stay engaged beyond just hitting “play”

And I totally agree about the leaderboard if it’s based on participation or creativity rather than just raw listening time, it keeps things fun without feeling forced.

This kind of feature could really stand out if done right, especially as an optional, lightweight game mode inside the app. It blends discovery, play, and personalization in a really natural way.

Would definitely love to see a beta of something like this too

Great idea. Daily word puzzles themed around song titles or artist names would be a fun way to boost engagement without pulling focus from the core listening experience.
