First read this article, analyze the lyrics, listen to the song on Deezer and watch its video on YT

"Rapture" is a song by American rock band Blondie from their fifth studio album Autoamerican (1980). Written by band members Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, and produced by Mike Chapman, the song was released as the second and final single from Autoamerican on January 12, 1981, by Chrysalis Records. Musically, "Rapture" is a combination of new wave, disco and hip hop with a rap section forming an extended coda.

Blondie's "Rapture" came from Debbie Harry and Chris Stein's fascination with the nascent hip-hop scene in the late 1970s Bronx, inspired by a rap party hosted by Fab 5 Freddy. They combined disco/new wave with rap, creating a unique sound, with Harry's freestyle-inspired lyrics and Stein's catchy beat, becoming the first rap song to hit #1 on the U.S. charts, famously featuring Fab 5 Freddy in the video and lyrics.

The song and its video (the first rap video on MTV) exposed millions to hip-hop culture, graffiti art, and the energy of New York City's underground scene, bridging racial and genre divides.

"Rapture" was another commercial success for the band, shipping one million copies in the United States, where it was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, their fourth and last single to reach the top. It was the first number-one single in the United States to feature rap vocals. The single also peaked at number three in Canada, and number five in Australia and the United Kingdom.

About the Bells in song"Rapture":
They are not church bells but tubular bells, also known as chimes, often used in orchestral music for their clear, resonant tones.
Keyboardist Jimmy Destri found them in the studio, and they provided a key sonic element .
The bells introduce the song and punctuate its verses, giving it a somewhat ethereal and iconic sound before the famous rap section begins.
The combination of these bells with Debbie Harry's rapping and the disco beat made "Rapture" a groundbreaking hit .

"Rapture"

Toe to toe
Dancing very close
Barely breathing
Almost comatose
Wall to wall
People hypnotized
And they're stepping lightly
Hang each night in Rapture

Back to back
Sacroiliac
Spineless movement
And a wild attack

Face to face
Sadly solitude
And it's finger popping
Twenty-four hour shopping in Rapture

Fab Five Freddy told me everybody's fly
DJ's spinning I said my, my
Flash is fast, Flash is cool
Francois sais pas, Flashe no deux
And you don't stop, sure shot
Go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car and you drive real far
And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and lands on the ground
And out comes a man from Mars
And you try to run but he's got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you're in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin' cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercuries and Subaru
And you don't stop, you keep on eatin' cars
Then, when there's no more cars
You go out at night and eat up bars where the people meet
Face to face, dance cheek to cheek
One to one, man to man
Dance toe to toe
Don't move too slow, 'cause the man from Mars
Is through with cars, he's eatin' bars
Yeah, wall to wall, door to door, hall to hall
He's gonna eat 'em all
Rapture, be pure
Take a tour, through the sewer
Don't strain your brain, paint a train
You'll be singin' in the rain
I said don't stop, do punk rock

Well now you see what you wanna be
Just have your party on TV
'Cause the man from Mars won't eat up bars where the TV's on
And now he's gone back up to space
Where he won't have a hassle with the human race
And you hip-hop, and you don't stop
Just blast off, sure shot
'Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin' cars and eatin' bars
And now he only eats guitars, get up!
