Queen slay 💅🏼, girl boss or female rage?

Women have played a significant role in the music industry for decades, with their contributions spanning across various genres and disciplines. From singers and songwriters to instrumentalists and producers, women have shaped the musical landscape in countless ways.

Breaking Barriers

In 2022, 30% of the artists on the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End Chart were women, marking an improvement from 23.3% in 2021 and a significant increase since 2012. Over an 11-year period and 1,100 songs, the overall percentage of female artists was 22.3%. This represents a ratio of 3.5 male artists to one female artist.
Miley Cyrus’ GRAMMY-winning record ‘Flowers’ was the most listened-to empowerment song by female artists over the last 12 months

Although progress has been made, there is still work to be done to ensure equality and gender representation in the music industry. Continued efforts to promote inclusion, eliminate barriers, and empower women will further strengthen the diversity and creativity of the industry.

Still a Long Way to Go

Women in music have always had to overcome numerous obstacles and challenges to succeed in an industry dominated and constructed by and for men. However, their talent, perseverance, and creativity have shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for future generations. Over the years, women in music have played a central role in various empowerment movements, from the feminist movement of the 1960s and 70s to the 21st-century #MeToo movement.

I need to get Daria Zaritskaya out there. She fronts a Ukrainian band called No Apology (they were formerly known as Sershen&Zaritskaya). Covers and original music. Give them a stream.

Years ago I already saw videos from her. The covers from Kansas, Bon Jovi and more are awesome.
