New to Deezer: can't play music on iOS 15.8

I just switched to Deezer but can’t seem to get it to work with my system on iOS 15.8, which is the latest iOS that my hardware will update to.

I can’t find any information on how to play music on Deezer if the app cannot be downloaded to a device.

Advice please!

I have an old iPhone 6s Plus which can only use iOS version 15.8.4, not a newer one. The Deezer iOS app version for it is 10.25.1.1 which you can check in the Impressum at the bottom of the app settings when installed. It still loads properly and also plays music for me, e.g. when tapping the purple Shuffle My Music button in  the upper right corner on the Favorites page (does not show its name though). It also scrobbles to my Last.fm account, by the way.

Oh wait, just got an update to iOS 15.8.5, will report if this changes anything. Nope, still works with iOS 15.8.5.

And it seems the current Deezer iOS version in the App Store is 10.47.1 from Sep 19, 2025, and the minimum requirement for that version is iOS 16.0 or later:

Deezer: Music Player, Podcast on the App Store

So the automatic update for my Deezer app only picks the version which is still possible on my iOS version. Maybe it is possible to find an older  Deezer version for you on the internet, e.g. see this old thread on r/deezer where someone has saved old Deezer versions and still offers them on his Google account:

Saved the last old deezer versions (official and unofficial download links) (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac,WearOS) : r/deezer

The Deezer web player on a desktop computer also works as usual when accessing their main site: https://www.deezer.com/

The Deezer desktop app has been updated today in the MS Store to version 7.0.170, don’t know what was changed though.

Hi @dazerdezer !

To install the Deezer app on your iPhone :

  1. Open the App Store: Find and tap the App Store icon on your iPhone's home screen.
  2. Search for Deezer: Tap the Search tab (magnifying glass icon) at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Type in the search bar: Enter "Deezer: Music Player, Podcast" into the search bar at the top.
  4. Find the app: Look for the official Deezer app listed in the search results.
  5. Download the app: Tap the Get button or cloud icon to download and install the app onto your device.
  6. Open the app: Once the installation is complete, tap the Deezer app icon to open it and sign in to your account.

If the Deezer app cannot be downloaded to an iPhone with iOS 15.8, the most likely reason is that the iOS version is too old for the current app, as Deezer requires a more recent operating system. To fix this, you would need to upgrade to a newer iOS version on your device, or if the device doesn't support a recent iOS version, you may need to consider a newer device.

Thanks Nina. Yes, I understand that.

I’m wondering if there is any other option besides getting a new device. Seems like a very big investment just to use Deezer. For example, is there a web browser streaming option?

You can use Deezer on desktop app  .

Simply download the desktop app for your computer or open Deezer web version https://www.deezer.com/

Thanks! So it sounds like the only way to switch to Deezer on my mobile device is to download an unofficial legacy version.

Hmm, not sure it’s worth it to take the risk!

Appreciate your help.

I also found a tip on the German Deezer community in an old related thread that said using another AppleID from e.g. a friend who has installed the Deezer iOS app on his Apple device in the past would work as well:

https://de.deezercommunity.com/ios-131/deezer-app-fuer-ipad-mit-ios-12-5-5-26177?postid=94634#post94634

You would have to change to his AppleID in the App Store first, then download an available old Deezer iOS app and then after installation change back to your own AppleID. Haven’t tried this myself, and I’m not sure if Apple might prevent this process in the meantime, as this was two years ago.
