Two UX Ideas to Improve Music Streaming Experience

In a market where all music streaming services are starting to feel interchangeable, user experience can become a real point of differentiation.

Two features could add immediate value.

First, a fully customizable Home page. Instead of forcing every user into the same generic interface, give them control over what they see. Let them prioritize favorite artists, surface the content that matters to them, receive news tailored to their taste, and even personalize the visual environment through background images, fonts, colors, and style. A paid service should feel personal, not imposed.

Second, add a Bio tab to every artist profile. Listening is only part of the experience. People also want context. Who is this artist, where do they come from, what is the story behind the album, who played on it, when was it recorded? Bringing that information into the platform would deepen engagement and turn passive listening into a richer cultural experience.

When catalog and pricing are no longer enough to stand apart, improving personalization and discovery through smarter UX can become a meaningful competitive advantage, without requiring a massive product overhaul.
