It’d be cool if on a per-song basis, we could set a length (in seconds) to skip the beginning of the song and/or end of the song.
For example, Opiate by tool is a 8:30 minute track, but the song ends at about 5:20. So, being able to select a Skip Outro setting on the song with a value of 190 seconds would be really handy.
Other songs have 10-30 intros where it’d be useful to set a skip on them. Similarly, there are songs that have both. It’s a tiny piece of meta-data to add to tracks, but it’d make listening to a mix so much better. It’s a feature that I haven’t seen any other streaming service use. So, this would be something that sets deezer apart in a good way.
If you want to expand the feature further, you could track the setting for a song from the users and use that data to automatically skip intros/outros with a setting.
This functionality is the biggest thing I miss moving from individual mp3s to streaming services. With my own mp3s, I would just edit the file to crop out the intros and outros. While deezer does provide personal mp3s, they don’t always work. It’s also a really clunky process. I’d rather not have to upload a bunch of mp3s just to crop intros/outros from songs.
