I just moved to Deezer from Spotify and am now seriously considering moving again because of this (imo very basic) feature is missing. I have listened to music on computers for around 25 years and have NEVER seen a music playing interface before where you can’t select several tracks at once (without having to click them one by one), and seeing that this thread was started over 5 years ago makes me want to switch somewhere else immediately. I always have a huge playlist with albums I want to check out, and end up moving, deleting or adding stuff constantly. The prospect of having to click every checkbox for single tracks manually makes me lose all the excitement I had because of switching to a new music service.

What concerns me is, while bugs or critical feature like this one that I report are answered by the support quite quickly, I haven’t seen any fix yet. I see this feature has been requested for 6 years…

Other easily reproduced bugs like the current playing track not being visible in the playlist, clicking on another track’s group or title making the player jump to it instead of displaying the info, etc. have not been fixed, either, and they’re basic functionality.

6 years later, the right team is still looking at the request. WTF

There’s worse: in the queue, it’s not even possible to select multiple tracks to copy them.

I’m amazed such a simple app doesn’t have those basic features, and that even after all this time and those requests, nothing has improved.

I’ll give it a few more months, but I’m not sure I’ll keep my Premium subscription beyond that.

I too will be moving along to a different service. I’ve tried Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Apple Music and they all have a version of this. Some are even kind of buggy and difficult to work perfectly, but I will put up with any of that hands down over the checkboxes.

Absolutely forget adding a whole album to a playlist, because if you ever need to move it or simply delete it, you will be stuck having to click 20 boxes with pinpoint accuracy. Here’s a good example of how it gets wild. Many many classical music albums have different pieces out of order (a holdover from CD days, to fit on CD). And each work has like 3-5 movements. Trying to create a playlist of all Mozart’s 27 piano concertos into playable order, let’s say, would be an impossible amount of checkbox clicking and dragging. This is such a fundamental UX problem. Wish I could stay, but it’s a dealbreaker.

@Jaime.Deezer any updates?

It’s quite alarming to see this feature is missing, and even more that threads like this one is 6 years old.

@Kevin Deezer  @Leonídia.Deezer Are you still there? Is the development team even aware of this problem?

@Wert Zuz @mischiew @escape_goat I understand your frustration but I don’t have any news and it is still a “Not for now”,  and if something changes we will update the status on this idea.

How will you notify us? There’s no release notes for the app updates, and no notifications when reported bugs are fixed. Well, actually, you haven’t fixed any of those I’ve reported yet, so I’m only trusting what your colleague told me.

Seriously now, when are you going to add this very basic and necessary functionality? Did you see that some people had physical problems because of that?

Thanks for thinking about your customers.

I think it’s kinda funny calling this an “idea”… sure the shift click thing is one I guess, but it’s a standard in software since the 90s. Every other streaming service has it that I’m aware.

If y’all have another solution than that, great, but you have to address this gaping usability and accessibility hole in Deezer. I mean several users in this thread alone call it a dealbreaker.

Just wanted to mention that this is still not supported in 2025. This is absurd because it’s a basic UI/UX feature which is just expected to work. Unfotunately I paid one year in advanced before realizing that such a basic functionality is missing. But I suppose it was the first and last year i paid for.

It’s also absurd how this topic is discussed and handled by Deezer. This is not an “idea”, it’s basic functionality which every software handling lists of some kind supports at least since the early 2000s.

It’s not the only UI/UX issue I’ve encountered with surprise since I use Deezer. I will not go into details because it’s off topic but the threads where those are discussed are similar. It seems that there is no real interest in improving the UI/UX.

Just as an example: I want to clean up my favorites. My musical taste changed dramtically over the last years. So now I have to make clicky click for 100s of songs, insted of selecting most of them with two clicks. This is absurd. I can’t say it often enough. Thinking about writing a script to do it via API. How is that for the user experience? Think the other streaming services can compete?

@Jaime.Deezer it's not a so complicated feature and its a must have for every and I mean every app website etc which has the option to select items. It's implemented in every software since 20 years minimum. It's a standard not a oh maybe a nice have. You can't developed software and ignore standards please pitch it to the developer team and ask them to reconsider it. It makes it impossible to effective create own playlist and edit them, and streaming services live and die with custom made and published playlists. It's not good that the feature is so rudimental that it stops you from making good custom playlists. Also it will make many users frustrated since its not a oh would be nice but understandable its not there feature its a wtf a simple thing I know from everywhere and would expect to work does not work at all. Thanks a lot would appreciate an update. Have a nice day.

it’s mad it’s still not possible to do that tbh

Right now, if I want to select or rearrange multiple songs, I’m forced to tick a checkbox for every single track. That’s not an edge case or a “power user” scenario, this is normal everyday usage, and the current workflow is absurdly inefficient.

What’s especially frustrating is that your community has been asking for Shift-click / range selection for around seven years, and it still hasn’t been implemented. At this point it feels completely unreasonable.

Can you please confirm:

  1. Whether Shift-click range selection / proper bulk selection is on your roadmap, and if so, any expected timeline?

  2. If there is any official workaround (web/desktop/mobile) that allows selecting a whole range of tracks and moving/removing them reliably?

I have already decided to switch to Qobuz. I was about to purchase a yearly subscription with Deezer, but thanks to the community thread on this missing feature, I noticed the issue just in time and canceled the annual subscription before it went through.
