Play all songs by one artist or all favourite artists

So I’ve been hoping that this reply – after a number of years now – would have a positive outcome too. I want to support another stream service that isn’t Spotify or Apple, but I’ve been finding there are some weird anomalies.

There are other glitches that aren’t for this thread that niggle me, but wanting to select and play one artist should be really so simple, but increasingly and disappointingly isn’t. Screenshots attached.

Example: search artist (e.g. Guns n Roses), select artist tracks, press play.

As someone has mentioned before…

Expectation: Play track one, then next GnR track.

Reality: Play track one, then play an oasis song that I wasn’t expecting or just not in the mood for, prompting a disappointing, occasionally expletive ridden response.

Even under the artist’s name, it says “Mix”. Expecting a shuffling of said artist tracks, but alas no.

I know it is frustrating and you would expect things to work different. The mix that is played is an artist mix, playing songs related to the artist, buts it's true that it's not playing only songs from the artists.
I have contacted our devs and passed your feedback regarding the Mix button on web and desktop app.
If you are playing on your phone this won’t happen and you would be able to listen tracks from the artist solely.
Also if you select top tracks on web and desktop app and press play it will play those only.
You can always listen to 100% playlists too (if available).
Some tests will be carried out soon on web and desktop app and I hope to have good news then.

at least can someone explain, WHY deezer doesn’t want to implement this feature? they clearly don’t want to do this, otherwise it would be done years ago

Hi.. so, concerning this topic I’ve found this and another topic so far. The other one simply being feedback and seems “solved” by the reply “just add everything of one artist to a playlist - which is not a solution in my opinion.

General thoughts - Maybe open a new idea?

I don’t really understand why this is .. “for now” not gonna be implemented.

I first thought it’s partly implemented with the “Mix of my music” (or w/e its called in english) in the “Favorites” tab, but I’ve noticed it would likely only play songs I actually _added_ to any of my playlists, or that I “hearted”

I can imagine having a mix from _all_ favorite artists might be harder to implement than just a mix from _one_ artists - maybe I’m wrong, though.

Do you reckon it’s worth opening a new idea just for “Play ALL Songs from one Artist”? I’m tempted.

More background thoughts:

Not having this feature, or - when you search for an artist - having the “play” button only play top tracks becomes useless when it’s smaller, lesser known artists. Clicking on “play” just plays just that one song that’s more well known, while they have dozens of albums and songs.

Suggestion:

The best change on artist search would probably be, to have the “play” button play top tracks first (because I can see the use in this if youre searching for a band and checking them out the first time) but following this, all other tracks from this specific artist. It would only need to tell the algorithm to filter by this specific artist.

If you activate shuffle, it would immediately play other random songs from the artist, not only top tracks.

Moreover, you’d need to be able to access this option from the artist page as well. Maybe in the three dot menu “Play all songs by this arist” - since the “play” button there is occupied by the artist mix.

Such a shame that it is still not done… It would be enough just a shuffle button on the artist page. Just ridiculous.

I remembered why my previous two attempts to switch to deezer ended unsuccessfully after a few months. The lack of this feature is VERY annoying.

This is starting to drive me insane. Can we please get this feature?

I’ve got some options… 

“Mix” - which plays one song by the artist, and then shuffles barely relevant tracks from other artists.
“Top Tracks” - Which contains 4 of the 200 songs the artist published.
“Discography - Albums” - Have fun adding said 200 singles to a playlist.
“Discography - Featured in” - Oh right, gotta add those too…
“In your Favourites” - Honestly, just searching in favourites would be preferable…. it would be more useful if you took this and just listed ALL tracks, and I can see what is tagged as a favourite instead...

So, why can’t we just have a “Play discography” option that plays everything the artist has been involved in? The thing I like about Deezer is the fact that I don’t have to manage any playlists, the recommendations and mix are really good, but sometimes I just want to explore works by a new artist or a favorite artist and it’s painful.
