I would double vote if I could. Opened another query about this.

It would be great if I could start flow with specific track and not only on my based on my usual listening habits. E.g. I would like to search for a song which fits my current mood and then 'Start Flow from here'.

Another idea is that I could configure the ratio between songs I already know and tracks which I haven't played.

Agree!
Another great way to discover new music is "Hear This" feature. It is working on web version and disappeared in mobile apps few months ago. There are 3 features which is make Deezer better than other services:

  • User's playlists. It is very-very nice then you can search across other users playlists. Sometimes you can discover gems using this way.
  • "Hear this" recommendations. New Albums + users playlist which fit your taste.
  • Flow
Guys, please also support this feature request. We are asking Deezer to return "Hear this" feature to mobile apps:

+1 to add "Explore" more new music with Flow.

Same here. I keep adding songs to my playlists and like them so the FLOW will update, increase its selection but it is just worse. I just keep getting the same songs both liked and not liked.

And right now as a paying customer I am pretty pissed that no one from Deezer cares enough to reply here that they will at least look into the issue.

So do you people recommend some replacements for Deezer?

Ok, so Flow, its great, but if I have "hearted" a band why does flow only play the same one or two songs by that band. Why not play from the whole catalogue ? and then let user dislike the songs they dont want to hear?
This is like listening to that radiochannel that only plays the same songsover and over. Mix it up eh?

Everytme i start Flow, its plays the same songs all over again until it reaches ones less played. Why not have a randomized selection all over the Flow perimeter?

Flow plays too much of your favorite music and not enough new music. I want to discover more. Playing less popular songs of liked artists would be a good first step.
Also a dislike button would be very welcome since certain bad songs just keep coming back even when i skip them immediately every time.

You can press the broken heart icon actually.😀

You're correct. The 'X' button for me in Flow. Didn't notice it so far. A' Broken Heart Icon' like you said, would make more sense.
That button isn't implemented in normal playlists though. I have a few nice playlists made by some awesome people. But I would like to delete certain songs in these playlists. Now I copy and paste it into a new playlist but this isn't a solution for frequently updated playlists.

I find rather than seeking similar tracks or artists, flow gets stuck only playing what you favourite (tracks or artists)

I too would like more variety. Surely flow can do this based on all other subscribers likes matching yours?

People are posting about this everywhere for the past year and noone cares anyway. I am trying my best to switch to Deezer but TBH Spotify's Algorithm is way better. Flow just keeps repeating tracks from my favorites or random tracks i skipped. Sometimes those tracks aren't bad and i don't wanna completely dislike them so Deezers doesn't play them ever again.

Hey everyone, just letting you know that the thread Deezer's FLOW algorithm needs improvement was moved into this one, as it was the same as this as it's easier to keep track of how popular a request is if it's all in one place 😉

Is it possible to find out whether favourite tracks or favourite artists is the dominant algorithm in flow?

Or is it possible to have an option to select this ourselves?

It'd be nice if the algorithm goes something like 'for every 6 favourite tracks/artists, play 4 suggested tracks'

Flow did set off really well at the beginning, and again when someone on Deezer support reset a few things to try to resolve another issue, but it's gone back to just playing my favourite tracks again.

So if it works well on a fresh account, or when things are reset by Deezer, does this prove an algorithm issue?

My beta app on my Mac updated today and I have noticed an immediate improvement in Flow song variety. Still a lot of the same, but a steady intro of new songs that Flow never has played before. Hope it's not just a coincidence.

The new android app update is so much better.

Flow is back to the way it was when I first started.

Hopefully this means the issue is fixed?

I am starting to find flow really annoying. I put on the Personal Flow, even though my favorites only exists of metal music and artists like system of a down, 5 finger death punch, godsmack, cancer bats, bullet for my valentine, etc. Flow manages to find relations to coldplay, the cranberries, the police, adele, white lion, pink floyd, mayonaisse and yes even katy parry... These are the artists I just got by skipping through ~30 songs. I get like 2-3 good songs, then I need to block 1.

No matter how much I ignore/block the songs, flow keeps finding new ways to annoy me, WTF?

Why not add a 'based on...' to the song? I really want to know how flow comes up with this sh!t.

Actually this new Flow that have "discover music based on _______" sections pretty much ALMOST solved the issue, imo (but Flow itself still sucks).

However, on "discover music based on ______" we don't have the option to dislike, so when I'm listening to music Deezer is accounting things I'm experimenting with as listening habits and will suggest me more of stuff I'm listening only to see if I like it. Please, let me unheart songs on "discover music based on _____" sections!

The sliding control "what-i'm-used-to/discover" would do nice, or setting discovery moods would do well too. Another idea could be having a series of buttons popping up on Flow when I dislike a song like: "never again", "not today", "not now" "not from this album", "not from this genre", "not from this artist"... if you don't touch anything the popup would disappear with no further effects.

After a few weeks of the flow changes, it's still working as intended and mixing up my playlist perfectly and suggesting a lot more than it was.

Thanks to the developers for fixing this.

You need to block the artist, not the track.

Training flow takes a while, but once trained you shouldn't see that much that you don't like

I can only use deezer as a player. If I want to listen to something new - no way I can use it because the flow lists suggest either something I already got in my own playlist or something old and annoying or something what I never like. It freaks me out. It's not only my opinion, I've heard this from other people too and didn't believe them until I got to experience it myself. I have another service like yours to compare with. Please do something with it.

@Inna.Dyakun I moved your post to this topic. We'll pass all feedback on to the team and I hope that the algorithm and the suggestion will be much better in the future 🙂
