Let's choose how "Add to queue" works

The way "Add to queue" works has recently changed, and it's a huge downgrade to me. I found it way more logical and useful the way it worked before, as the songs/album was added at the end of the queue and not before the rest of the queue (there's a useful "Play next" for that).

Anyway, I see somebody prefer the new way, so it may be useful to let users choose between the two behaviours by adding a button or something in the settings.

Yeah, this change makes no sense. “Add to queue” should add to the end of the queue (which has always been the behavior). Witt this change,  “Add to queue” duplicates the “Play Next” functionality.

The change has been extremely frustrating, as I can no longer queue up a series of albums to listen to without them being inserted into the middle of the album I’m currently listening to.

Yes as a newcomer this is quite confusing/frustrating.

This is what i figured out with melodi/gemini (so i can entirely be wrong here):

The issue seems to be that an album play (with the purple play button) treats the album as a low priotity.(the same as the algorthmitic never ending stuff at the end) So it does not treat the album as the end of queue.

If you use the three dots and use add to queue it is treated as high priority. Then it works how you expect it to work.

So the tedious method to queue albums becomes something like

1.start song mix of one track of the album album (this sets the algorthmitic end)

  1. Three dots → add to queue
  2. Skip one track
  3. Now you have your recommendations set correct and the whole albums is queue’d with high priority so you can queue normally

Why deezer counts the album play button as a low priotity is beyond me.

I logged this issue as a fault, and they suggested I come here. So here I am

On my mobile I often queue up another playlist after the one I am currently playing so I dont have to touch my phone while driving etc when the current playlist ends. Now I guess I’ll just let the playlist play to the end and start at the beginning again until I finish driving and start a new one then.

Frustrating as I didnt ask for this change, yet another feature I could do without. It would be really good if Deezer would consider allowing Premium users to disable/ enable features in settings. I have only ever used the “Launch Track Mix” in error, would love to have the option to turn that off

Guess they tried to make it work like Spotify, but the fact Deezer doesn't work like Spotify is one of the main reasons a lot of users choose Deezer.

I came to check out the ideas out of curiosity and saw this post: so this change isn't a bug, it's an actual update??
It's completely ridiculous; I can no longer queue up multiple albums in a row properly like I used to!
The basic functionality was simple enough, though:
- Add to queue: at the end
- Listen next: right after the current track

Are we sure it isn't just a bug?

Unfortunately it's not a bug, it was officially introduced by Deezer. :-/

I agree with your description. The “play next” and “add to queue” button works as expected if you look away from the weird idea of priority in the queue. I really don’t see the purpose of differentiating how songs were added to the queue, so I hope they remove the idea of low priority of songs in the queue. If I click “add to queue”, then I would expect the selection to be added to the end of the queue no matter how the rest of the queue was built.
